I’m gonna be so serious w you rn I don’t even know what I’m doing When I try to go for a polished or silk material look I will grab a light and darker shade of a base color and shade accordingly then add a lighter color where light hits the most or where the fabric is most outwards Other then that I just wing it Though when it comes to skin tones I usually like to keep in mind when I do darker I should make my whites and other light colors a little darker as well or else they can really give off a weird glare look to the drawing and make the characters less visible When doing lighter characters I try to not absolutely cover the whole characters body in clothes or else there head a neck might look weird being so bright

And even if it’s tempting I usually make a rule for myself not to include to many colors in my designs like 3 or maybe 4 max Unless they are rainbow or neon inspired

Man I can’t stand lowering the opacity and shading that way on here I decide to go for a more messy look instead usually no one will notice it when the whole image is done because there will be a whole canvas to look at rather then one shaded bit of clothes and will still look fluid

I only really shade when on procreate cus if it’s better mechanics It still takes a raw hour to do though sometimes I just want to convey a texture w/o spending my whole life on it
