I was running. I didn't know from what but I was flat out sprinting. I noticed something waving behind me. A tail? I grasped the sapphire choker securing its place on my neck. My tail-apparently I had one while I slept- kept me balanced as I ran and skidded around a bend. My fiery, red hair flew out behind me as my run grew faster. A hissing, distorted yowl filled the flats I was running in. A rock protruding from the ground tripped me, making my land on my face. I grunted, and pulled myself to my knees. I looked behind me as pain again filled my body. This time, adrenaline filled my body, so I could get up and start sprinting again without wincing. Fire blew my direction, I tucked and rolled. I needed to escape. I saw him, I heard him, I could even feel his presence, it stopped me dead in my tracks. "You can't run anymore. Birch." His voice made me cringe internally. A shiver ran down my spine. I snarled, turning around intending to face him but it came to no avail. His voice

laughed, the sound was like smooth honey, but it felt as though a knife was twisting my heart. "Oh dear. Well, your only human. Or should I say that you only look human. Your dreams dear are quite disturbing. Perhaps some persuasion could make them more end-" He was trying to change my brain?! I cut him off with a spit of disgust. "Why do you hunt me even in my dreams? Your like a wolf in sheep's clothes, getting closer to the prey before finally revealing who you really are. Get a new style, Lucifer." I spoke his name like it was acid in my mouth.

My eyes narrowed as I tried to pin down where he was, or at least where his voice was coming from. I needed to know, before I could judge what to do and when to do it if I could do anything at all. His voice stopped, though I couldn't see him or hear him, I knew he was upset. I was dumbfounded with the amount of power I held over the overlord (if you could call it that) of Hell. I looked around for a half second longer and quickly jogged ahead, despite the now burning pain that had me writhing before. It was strong but my tail lashed and as I gulped down some now smokey air and sprinted. I saw a cliff and found another place. Lucifer's voice sounded around me.

"Birch, dear. What are you doing? Darling, around you is me, and I would do anything. But would you be willing to-" A horrendous sound ripped through my throat cutting him off. I snarled, and lashed my new tail in the frustrating and disgusting thought of what he would have finished that sentence with. I knew that I was scaring him. I didn't have to see him to also know that his bubbling rage was having to suppressed. My mind howled with triumph, while my body ached with an almost numbing pain. If only it was numbing. I pressed on, darting around the remarkably vile looking landscape. I bolted through what was left of decimated forests. The feebly burnt branches scratched my skin but that was not what stopped me. I let out an agonized yowl. My body was tight, and not to mention burning pain. I clawed myself forward, slowly and painfully dragging myself towards what I hopped was safety. Before I could get there the pain was too much. It overwhelmed me, paralyzing me in
