TBh its not too hard. You have to have a layer of a gradiented black on the top, (Meaning dark pitch black on the edges and light transparent black in the center) and then you have to have a color layer on the bottom where you spam galaxy colors and then stars in the middle.

I think you were trying to go for a semi realistic look?
I was going for an animeish look.
