Bluemoon and Skycloud love each other, but are from different packs, so can never be together. Blueleaf and Foxfern want to be together, but they're from different packs, so they can't. Rustypaw is dead, and Redmoon is dead... They stand as a wall between these relationships, knowing the rules and how they'll completely destroy their lives if they defy those rules. Redmoon is forceful about it, forcing them apart with a prophecy that'll leave the two devastated. Rustypaw is much more lean about it, and just watches from afar, waiting for life to take its form however it pleases, without intervening. The two end up understanding the rules, and leaving each other on their own, without any devistations taking place. In the end, it's the same story, but they have different outcomes, depending on how the spirit treats it...
