Reintroducing… LIA! Another character I’d made in the past for the draft version of this medieval series has finally returned! Lia was another major villain in this series, and I absolutely DESPISED HER for it back in the day. I can’t say I still hold that same grudge as I used to, cause damn did I kind of miss her downright EVIL ATTITUDE! 😈

The last time I drew her seems to have been 4 years ago, which isn’t quite as bad as some other characters I’ve neglected in my past! Fiona technically counts as a neglected character, considering I’ve NEVER drawn her on FlipAnim before (I’m a terrible person). BUT ANYWAYS! I wanted Lia to stick out by giving her some defining features. I’m also trying to better myself with drawing black characters, so I’ll be straying away from giving these girls STRAIGHT LINES as mouths from now on! Full lips are where it’s at! 😆 I also gave braids a shot for Lia. It’s something I’ll have to practice more, but I honestly really like them on her! Considering I used to draw her, Mona and Fiona with the same cut but on different sides of their FACE back then… THIS IS A HUGE IMPROVEMENT!

I’ll briefly go over how I see Lia playing a role in this new series going forward… After Jax and Cathy break ties with one another, they unconsciously seek connections within their circles to cope with their loses. Catherine is drawn to Vlad, as he’s somebody close to her that doesn’t care who she is, and will do anything to support her no matter what. Jax… doesn’t actually care a lot about Lia at all. But her conniving nature leads her to getting into his head when he’s at his most vulnerable. Jax grew up with parents that painted love as entirely conditional, so no red flags are waved when Lia comes into the picture! Plus, he’s desperate at this stage in his life. Even if that means trusting a maiden who’s clearly only in it for power and fortune, someone needs to fill the hole in his heart. Lia just so happened to be at the right place and the worst of times… I think that sums up her role? I can get more into her character another time, just not tonight.
