ah yes!!! They are much too large to be a mosquito, though! A male mosquito, which are larger than females, look very similar. They dont bite. But typically male a mosquito is not even an inch wide. Crane flies are typically nearly an inch long or even one and a half. And crane flies are really good for the enviornment! So make sure to leave them be :)
