One inclement afternoon, Asher got a letter saying that she would have to stay at her late grandma’s cottage while her parents were away. She was excited but she was also nervous. She had never been home alone without her brother who had recently went off to college. She missed him very much. Asher had a friend named Stan. He wasn’t exactly what people would call a friend. But Asher looked past his flaws. ... Ashers POV I walked to the graveyard with my frog umbrella

I pause briefly. I here wings flapping. It’s Stan! He always try’s to scare me from behind but he isn’t the quietest bird ever. Stan is a crow. He is rude at sometimes but he is the only friend I have so I put up with him. I pretended to flinch when he pecked my head from behind to make him think that he actually scared me. He laughed. “Got you!” He chirped. I continued on walking to my grandma’s tombstone. I sit on my knees telling my grandma about my day but I’m cut off by a loud boom of thunder. I flinch and start to run to the cottage while Stan flys behind me. When I get in the cottage I rub the backs of my fingers on the yellowed books. One book catches my attention. It has a brown cover and no title. I grab the book and flip to the first page. It says a guide to diner for monsters. I was confused on the title page but I continued to flip through the pages but they were all blank. I shrugged it off and went to sleep. I woke up at 2:00 A.M. from a loud noise. The book fell! As I put the book back on

- the shelf a page fell out. I struggled to see the page in the dark. When my eyes adjusted and I saw the page I felt a shiver down my spine. The page was a picture of a bed that looked like the one I was sleeping in and a little boy with a scared face looking at a monster under the bed. I quickly put the page on the side table terrified. I fell asleep for a few minutes but I woke up when I felt the page brush against me. The paper was poking my arm and the picture changed. Instead of a little boy in the bed with the monster I was in the bed! I was really scared at this point. I heard a loud thump under the bed. I froze. After contemplating if I should look under the bed I decided to look under the bed. As I looked under I saw a unexplainable creature. Narrator POV Asher screamed when she looked under the bed. Then there was silence...
