okej so my speech is on freedom and how trumps deporting of immigrants is going against that

It is very likely that you have stood and pledged allegiance to our flag many, many times. You have pledged for “liberty, and justice for all.” This occurs so often that it may seem like a chore to some. Time and time again it has been rehearsed, engraved into your mind, like a knife carving in wood. You pledge to the flag of red white and blue, with broad stripes and bright stars. America, the Land of the Free. But just how united and free are we? Have you acknowledged what is going on in our nation, or do you continue to pledge blindly to a country with leaders of corrupt power who dictate the freedoms of minorities? A new year of opportunities for our country should begin to form steps to a brighter future. A new leader for our country should bring new improvements for our land. What has this year brought? Nothing. Instead, it has taken. It has taken people from their newfound homes in the US, where we promised a safe environment for all, and sent them back to the land they were moving away from.

Our population is large, yes, but that isn’t the concern of our president. Trump put this event of deporting immigrants into motion to satisfy his own blatant ideas of superiority among the people. However, he declares the amount of immigrants coming into the US undocumented as an invasion. In fact, legal experts reported by CNN say that “the administration could try to rely on the invasion rationale to justify possible future actions that would go beyond the limits of immigration law and that would ignore the procedures in place for border-crossers.” Essentially, Trump is using words unfit for the situation at hand to stretch the law. In short, he is testing how much power he can wield over the nation and using it to comply with his ideas of ridding different minority groups. This is certainly not an invasion. Many immigrants are completely innocent, besides the fact they are undocumented in the country.

In the US, a trespassing crime will result in punishment that is not very severe if it is not proven to be extremely harmful. The consequences in many US states for trespassing is a small fraction of jail time and or a fine. Yet all of these people who trespassed into our country, many of them never doing anything illegal besides the fact, are being sent out of the nation, instead of the ladder. But why immigrate to the US in the first place, rather than staying where they once lived? Most come here undocumented due to conflict in their homeland and the commonality of poverty. Others seek to escape the unjust rules their dictators put in place. Seeing as America is labeled the “Land of the Free”, it is easy to see that they left their home for a seemingly better life. Instead, they have been greeted with the hands of cruel power, sending them back to the beginning of their troubles. How about the fact that many are dealing illegal substances during their stay? That surely damages our society, right?

Sending them away in this instance would be a solution to reduce crime in our country. However, there are already plenty of documented US citizens who deal illicit substances all over the country, not just undocumented immigrants. And why don’t you take a look at Trump’s track record? A convicted felon. In fact, on May 30, 2024, Donald Trump was the first president of the United States to be declared a convicted felon. Whether it be a hush money case or falsifying business records, our president is no stranger to illegal activity. Even during his presidency, he is stretching the severity of situations to fit his ideas, which also stretch the law. Yet we stand under his control, as he makes decisions for our country.

Next time you stand for the flag, remember what you’re standing for. Freedom. Peace. Equality. And next time recite that same old pledge, remember who dictates your freedoms. Remember who dictates the peace in our country. Remember who dictates who is considered equal or not.
