LinkAs I'm sure MANY of you are aware now, YouTube is attempting to implement a policy regarding age verification. (Check out @marshie 's account for more info on the subject) From what I've seen, it seems like they'll be using AI to decide the age of viewers. And if not that, the only option they give you to bypass the system is to use personal info. (Government issued ID's , credit card information that verifies your age, or a photo of yourself.)
This already, is a big enough invasion of privacy, and understandably, may people are hesitant and wary of this "act" being put on such a large social media platform.
Now here's where the AI comes in.
There's the chance that if the act is a success, the moderators of YouTube will get overwhelmed by people who are trying to prove their age, with, or without personal info. There's the chance that they may turn to AI for help.

LinkI
Do not like AI nor will I support it or think kindly of it. As an artist, I've been made well aware of the "art" that AI generates, stealing pieces of work created by real human beings who put a lot of effort into them, and shoving it together into an absolute mess. Blah blah blah, you get what I'm saying.
AI is something that a lot of people use, though many fail to realize that it's not as powerful as it seems. It can be hacked, breached, infiltrated, and so much more. How does this relate to the YouTube issue you may ask?
In the hands of AI, your personal information can be at great risk for being stolen. That includes your identity entirely and the theft of your hard earned money as well as a large risk to you. AI is not PERFECT, and may never be. Thus resulting in many flaws as it, tragically so, continues to progress for the wrong reasons.

LinkWhat I'm addressing is the fact that, this "thing" that YouTube is trying to do, may just cause much more harm than good for viewers, content creators, and people who may just use it for school and other personal reasons. Many people are already extremely against this and are even planning boycotts against this to defend privacy, as they have yet to announce anyway to verify your age without risking your safety online.
Another thing, the internet may never be safe, and that's something that is very difficult to change, as long as people with contrasting views, malice, and other factors exist in our world. Truth be told that will never change. When it comes to parents keeping their kids safe, THEY should be the ones in charge of it, not the internet or artificial intelligence. As unfortunate as it may be that the internet is not a safe place to be, it's reality.

LinkRelying on others to protect something OR someone (this regards to possessions like money, items, etc. As well as regarding to people's own children) that falls under your responsibility will not end up with the best results. It's like trusting a scam call, the danger is everywhere. It can become a little more safer, though it's still very vulnerable to disaster, as all things are.
The main focus shouldn't be trying to force people into a corner and limiting them, it should be genuinely protecting them (like I said, parents actually protecting their children) from things like scams, bots, literal predators, and more.
There will always be someone who disagrees with what you say, sometimes even for spite. That won't ever change, the safety of everyone who uses the internet is very much so held by a thread. While you can't change it, you can take steps to decrease it by protecting yourself and your loved ones.
Again, it will never completely go away, but it can be dwindled to a smudge over time.

LinkThank you to those who read my little rant!
I usually don't do these often at all (consider this like my second or third time ever from memory) so some information written may not be the most appealing to read and I do apologize for that! Though I hope you do not regret taking the time to read this despite whatever outcome you may feel.
Please do try to stay safe! Anywhere is a hotspot for chaos and unfortunate events. However, you may be able to prevent such things even as they seem dire,
Thank you, and I hope you all have an amazing day and, or night!
And they're letting it because we can't do anything about it 😭 it's gotten to the point that AI can turn itself on after being shut off
Recently, I rode in an Uber whereas the driver had a TESLA. He made it self drive to the location and the entire time I was internally freaking out because I did not trust it with my life 😔 (we were also on a busy road so yeah)
