I actually don’t understand it myself, but I’ve picked up an obsession with sign language and an overall interest in deaf people. It’s intriguing… and I believe it started around when I began reading stories and watching movies about it. Sign (A story I’ve been reading for a bit) and A Silent Voice (An Anime movie) are the two biggest ones, and ever since I’ve just been so interested in the disability. I don’t think people don’t understand this, but deaf people are so strong… If you go from being a ‘normal’ person with hearing, then you slowly lose it throughout life or something happens, you’re almost forced to find another way to communicate. Sign language is such a great thing to learn, and I think everybody should get into it at least a little bit in their lifetime.

I would LOVE to learn sign language, but at the moment I’m taking two other languages this year, so I think it’s best to hold off on it so I don’t get bombarded with information I can’t keep track of. If someone was just born deaf, it’s such a hard thing to learn, especially at a young age, that you’re so much more different from the people around you. I would feel bad, but honestly it’s not all that horrible when you think about it! (But of course, I cannot speak for those who have the disability.) I’ve found there’s different types of deafness, either complete deafness, or like a numbed deafness, where either you can only hear certain sounds, or a lot of sounds are just dulled out and hard to hear.

I could go on and on about why deaf people are so strong and just overall great people, but I don’t think anybody would wanna read all of that, so I’ll keep it at this! Thank you guys for reading, and I hope you enjoyed my weird obsession!
