LinkI won't spoil anything if people haven't seen it yet, but omg I'm just obsessed with this animation
The only thing I will say that might spoils some stuff is the character designs

LinkLike, oh my hecc, one of the villains, he is so simple, yet he still has that sketched out base to him, he's literally just two colors! And then he has a super power that actually seems familiar, but then it's still something utterly new!
Same with the designs! Like one of the characters was basically just changing shapes and colors- kind of like water! constantly changing in some way, and the colors fit that character! It reminds me of some sketchbook or drawings ideas I've seen, where it's like, pieces of paper- y'know, post-it notes, a bunch of random colors- coming together to form this one thing, and it looks amazing!

LinkLike, these kinds of movies are what inspires my art and ESPECIALLY my animation. I love that even with all the action scenes, the camera angles, even the different styles- they basically never lost the anatomy and detail.
I'm just watching the behind the scenes on this, and I'm learning so much for animation, and just how these (so far two) amazing movies are made!
You can literally pause on any frame it will be like one, whole, drawing.
They have the 3D models and then they put 2D over it; like in the first movie when the super collider explodes when Miles was saved by Spider-Man, They had the 3D model, but then all the colors and little details of the explosion was hand drawn and animated!

LinkBut these movies had over 100 animators! that like, twice the usual amount for a regular movie
But oh, ladies and gentlemen this is no regular movie!
and the animation, when you slow it down, it looks really choppy and like it's missing frames, but it was on purpose! They did animating on ones and twos! Animating on ones is where you have all of your frames, right? And then each frame is different, forming that animation.
But animating on twos, is where you have on frame with your character or whatever, and the next is the same, except the whole piece or character is moved a little in the direction it's going
It's reminds me of tweening, in a way.

LinkAnd then for backgrounds, stuff that isn't the main focus- regular movies or animation just blur it out, but these movies took that background, gave it a YMCA color palette (really bold and bright colors), and layered them so that you can still see the background clearly, but it isn't a big thing to focus on

LinkAnd in animating, they didn't use motion blur! They instead used the technique in their own similar way, y'know, the one where it looks like something has extra limbs or something
And the storyline is amazing! I feel like this whole story and animation- just everything- fits together so well
And with the style, they used a lot of Kirby dots, you see the dots or blobs used everywhere, because the comic book artist, Jack Kirby, used a lot of dots in his style of comic books, and so I just love how they incorporated everything together, where these spider verse movies are their own thing, but it's still absolutely amazing!

LinkI know I'm just ranting like a crazy person, but I'm just so inspired and these movies are so cool and well made

LinkAnd then, oh my GOSH, I love the variations of spider man that were there! I feel like they just had everyone come up with their design, making these super unique spider people
And I just love how the included the old jokes and music as well, like in the first movie with that tune in a awkward and a bit intense situation, they still used it!
