Centiserpents are massive creatures that roam mountain peaks and the cloudy skies. Civilizations have been spotted, built by these serpentines. Their population is very intelligent, comparable to the human mind. They commonly understand agriculture, and have been seen preforming active studies on such topics. Theories show they also study astronomy, and watch star patterns. A daring human once managed to take the giant lens from one of their telescopes, and it was much similar to those of human telescopes, meaning they understand the spectrum of light. Studies have proved that they express emotion, and can communicate to each other in a more advanced manner than most animals, almost like their own language.

As for their anatomy, they are of course colossal. They take the shape of a large snake, with the head of a scaly, spiky reptile with horns protruding the rear skull. They commonly decorate themselves in woven robes and jewelry. In childhood, they come in variants of blues, purples, yellows, and browns. Their wings are in two sets of bulging buds, and when those buds are ready to bloom, they endure the process of metamorphosis (very similar to a butterfly). They stay in this state for around a few days. Cocoons are woven from the developed silk glands on the brow of elders, which appear over age (commonly ages 300-450 yrs). Once emerged, they immediately shed from their younger skin and appear in either an identical or different patterning+color spectrum, which can vary over any possible color (with the exception of black and pure white). Feathers (similar to a chick) begins to bloom on these new, flexible limbs.

Young adults who have just completed metamorphosis are some of the most fragile, with the exception of a hatchling. Elders and adults care for these two age groups, and educate them as much as possible. They consider education as key to understanding their lives and home, and what surrounds their home, where their home is, and the dangers around them, and why they are dangerous. Their intellectual abilities are almost indescribably unimaginable, and many scientific theories show they are much, MUCH more intelligent than humans. In many cases, however, Centiserpents do not willingly interact directly with humans, but they do study them as humans do Centiserpents. They have a developed language in which they can record and elaborate information into scrolls and books. They keep these large selections of information archived in well protected vaults, easily accessed with an identification slate for citizenship. These slates are only available to young adult civilians at the youngest, only to those whom have com-

-pleted metamorphosis. This means that children are assigned guardians, normally their mothers or older siblings (if they have any). These libraries are only easily accessed to Centiserpents with these slates. A select few guards from their large fleets are assigned to protect the few entrances to the libraries, commonly known to the Centiserpents as ‘The Vaults’ or ‘Archives’. These structures are impressively fortified, showing their dedication to education. Their constructions are hidden within the peaks, alongside their side-by-side niche system, where their dens are carved into the sides of the mountain , the entrances normally hidden with brush. This only makes them more difficult to find, however, rarely, a daring Centiserpent will glide over a city in a flash, hardly catching the eye of anyone.

As Centiserpents age, they grow silk glands on their brow. This is why they are necessary when caring for younger groups, encouraged to stay in their groups. They shed every decade or so, and as they grow older, VERY FEW grow a bile sack in their abdomen. Normally, this is whenever they are ‘chosen’ and are performed on in a ceremony where they are ‘blessed by the sun’. Very religious, in this matter. Most albino Centiserpents grow this ‘defective’ bile sac, where they can produce mass amounts of heat. This heat may bubble up and produce flames on their spines, not harming them. The bile would run down a vein developed during the bile sac, and release sudden combustion. The scales will contract, a final chemical reaction causing the flame to appear.

Meaning, they are able to either use this as a weapon, or just for show. After a short while, though, the constant contractions become sore, and surrounding scales become uncomfortably warm. Other than this, runes are commonly painted on the bodies of elders. These ruins are to never be intentionally washed off, and if it begins to wear, they will be reapplied. These ruins only go to show command, order, and the peace they enforce in their clans.

This is an open species! I love them, personally, and I think that they will be fun to use. I will have bases!! Try to stay along the lines of the description though, otherwise, go wild with your backstories and designs. Clans are very large, with a large variety of members. Parents are very commonly compassionate with their children. Hierarchy (Highest order to lowest): -oldest elder -every other elder -scribes -elite guards -guards -guardian organizer -guardians -adult commoners -young adult commoners -hatchlings -thieves/rejected members
