imo this is a pretty ass take just considering it doesn’t factor in the fact it’s statistically proven that without proper medical care (bc. that’s what HRT is. medical care.) trans kids are way more likely to kts. also the argument here goes along with the idea that HRT is this scary, permanent change to one’s body, when the truth is it’s basically (if not literally) just puberty. it’s a really bad idea to restrict medical care for Everyone because some people could hypothetically regret transitioning, while completely ignoring the fact that for trans kids, HRT is quite literally life saving. whether or not a teen goes on hormones should be between them, their parents, and their medical provider, not decided by a government because they Might regret it, which i should add medical transition has an Insanely low regret rate. literally lower than knee surgery.

This is a great point too honestly i understand that well as a trans person myself, ive been a bit scared to commit myself to that kind of surgery because i am still a teenager and im just going to wait until im older and see if i stil need it

I think thats an amazing point but the general consensus is that its still a very wishy washy topic. Children are not only mentally undeveloped, theyre also considerably insecure in their bodies too. Learning to love yourself and your body should be an important lesson throughout child-teenhood before ever deciding to transition. Attempting to chemically change your biology due to insecurity has been proved to be insanely toxic both mentally and physically for anyone who decides thats a permanent solution. I know someone who did not begin hormone therapy until they were over the age of 18 and theyre currently doing wonderful! Maybe im not around enough people who choose to transition, but ive seen more often than not that those under the age of 18 (typically 13-16) tend to experience immense weight gain, hormonal imbalances that cause insecurity, suicidal thoughts and other problems, etc. And when they detransitioned, they regretted it hard. I have nothing against hrt, dont get me wrong self expression and the ability to feel comfortable in YOUR body are wonderful, but sexual topics and exploration are a little too common in the conversation had with 12-15 year olds. Also NO, the government should not at all be involved with ANY medical procedure, it should be up to the morality of doctors, the people who are considering getting it, and NO ONE else. I think whatever people decide to do with their bodies should never be up to a third party like that.

Thank you for clarification :) I think firmly my views for hrt generally remain wishy washy, and thats also because I will never have the experience or understanding of it like someone who has transitioned does, I do understand your other points. I think we viewed sexual conversation in a different light. When I say it, I mean in an uneducated, raunchy manner. Less like an educated talk and more like unrestricted access to Twitter at 12 😭 I think every child around the age of 13 should have a conversation with someone who is professional or at least can educate them properly on sex ed(including sexuality and helping teens become comfortable with what they are interested in as people), which the school system is heavily failing at doing. I dont think we disagree on that, just our perspectives were mixed. I also absolutely do not mean to fear monger when it comes to the hrt process! I think ive just had one to many friends have negative experiences with it, vs the few good experiences some-

Have with it generally when theyre in adulthood. Im not really super educated in it (again ive never personally experienced it. I can always have sympathy for those who've gone through it but my personal opinion on it will probably remain on the more open side) and I wont deny it came off a bit harsh with what I said, I apologize, im glad to be a bit more educated and understand that it can create a better teen-into adulthood for a child who is in an uncomfortable, and growing state. Also youre right, I think being unsatisfied with the gender you had at birth can be completely different from insecurity, and thats not at all what I meant! I dont think that gender dysmorphia is solved with just confudence, I was more meaning my friends who were influenced and pushed by both insecurity and the people around them. I was still wrong, and I thank you for opening up my opinion on it a bit more :)

Even with this understanding I still think itd be a hard talk, in the event I had a child. If my child came to me with the feeling that they wish to transition, id probably spend a bit more time conversating about this with them before any decision was made, so that we can both understand and both feel comfortable with the decision (I know myself how parents who deny the very thought of those conversations or odd topics can be, and I would want my child to feel safe speaking to me about those things, as well as open) And I think this helped a lot in my opinion of hrt and how it benefits and how it doesnt I still don't really think that any child under the age of 12 should be discussing those topics. They actually shouldnt even be worrying about the gender constructs their clothing holds. If my daughter told me she preferred baggy tshirts with sonic and cargo shorts, I would never deny that wish and slap her in a dress, I think that is a toxic way of parenting and hurts your child's perspective on gender t

Sorry for that after tangent. Really this opinion kinda stems from ideas centering parenthood. I dont think my opinions really matter beyond questioning how I will parent the children I have/adopt, especially considering my political views are medium and I dont really have a presenting political side. That being said I always love to debate and be taught and teach others, thank you for helping me understand the topic a little better :)

I think people should express themselves, communication when it comes to a person's feelings are important. after all, it's never advised to hold everything. however, just spilling EVERYTHING out, can be both harmful for the poster and the viewers. everything on the internet stays, and these footprints while left behind will never truly go away. as of the viewer, indulging in such negativity can be triggering, and honestly just uncomfortable. alot of people on the internet are kids who want to help but either cant or don't have the knowledge or resources TO HELP. it's sad and I wish people would understand the second party before going off sometimes. that being said, I push others to find better coping mechanisms suggested by professionals than going online and venting for the mass to see. this doesn't just stop at green twitter though, yt shorts, and other short media consumption platforms do this as well.

I just fear for the poor skibiti toilet 5-10/11 years scrolling on yt shorts enduldging in such harmful medias at such a young age
