Linkokay, so basically I only heard about this because my cousins listen to it and because of the skeleton clique drama. A lot of fans of TOP have gone to KPOP due to the hiatus, and I haven't yet because I don't really like KPOP. Don't get me wrong, listen to whatever you want to, I just don't like it. One band copied TOP which when I was first hearing about it gave me a bad look on them already. I listened to it, and in my opinion it's basically love songs but in Korean. I don't listen to what's on the radio because most of it is love songs or sex songs or breakup songs which are cliche and I don't like them. People claim they are emo but they are not. They sing about the same stuff on the radio only in a different language, and that's the main reason I don't like them. The second is all of the fangirls but I'm not even going to get into that. Okay, that's my opinion, and I only posted this because my irl friends have asked me and I'm answering.

LinkFrick that's exactly my opinion on it too... It's just popular music, but in Korean. I'd rather listen to Melanie Martinez over BTS, and I have a vendetta against Melanie. Plus the fans are... Yikes. They're crazy. If you do much as say it's not your music taste they'll attack you, there's so much infighting within the community it's genuinely concerning, and people still support bands that are proven to have toxic relationships. It's concerning how much people love these bands then scorn Western pop music because they're the same thing

LinkBasically yes. They're music isn't new or even original, it's the exact same stuff you hear all of the time expect in a different language. I feel like there are so many fans because of the different language too. They don't understand what the singers are saying so they think it's new or original. The fans need to face facts, anyone can sing in a different language, but that doesn't make their style or music original. Also the fighting, it's worse than the freaking clique and there if you say one thing you get "fAke FaN!!!1!" spams.
