LinkOne of those robots look like bob
Another story time yayyyyyyy... But seriously, I couldn't help not doing this one. I may have exaggerated a few of the things in the other games, but probably this one is definitely not exaggerated. Well not as. This game is just frustration in the raw, and is easily the toughest (official) mega man game (cough cough unlimited cough).
Before facing the robot masters, you must go through the museum stage, and chose your character. This time around, you can also use Bass for the first time. His playstyle is more centred around platforming, because of his double jump, while mega man can do better against the bosses, because of the charge shot. I chose mega man, since I have more experience with him.
The robot museum is a mishmash of older stages, those being metal man, fire man, blizzard man, and toad man, in that order. After the toad man section you find proto man, who has just encountered King, a robot who raised the museum for the data on various last does from Mega man 8, 1 of whom he uses to attack you, but not before cutting of proto man's legs with a Damn axe!!! He summons a rebuilt green devil, though it is much easier this time, fortunately.
After beating green devil, you can now choose from 3 stages: Cold Man, Astro Man, and Ground Man, As well as the shop, and CD storage, which let's you see data on your last foes, even really obscure ones like the genesis unit from wily wars, and the stardroids and mega man killers from the game boy games. The shop also has some really useful upgrades, but you probably won't be able to get any until later on. If you pick any stage to go to first, though, PLEASE, pick cold man, for your sake. He's the only one that's remotely manageable without his weakness. All the others can teleport, become invincible, and two particularly nasty tricks in 2 later stages.
Cold man's stage isn't too bad, outside of the miniboss, and a few breakable platforms, but cold man is actually not half bad, until he gets to half health. He, until then, just throws his ice wall at you, but later he starts spewing cloud enemies from his head, that slow you down and decrease your jump height. Some moderate multitasking will get you the ice wall. It's seen as useless, but it let me what a few CD's only obtainable as bass.
Now go to Burner Man, the 2nd hardest boss in the game. His stage features ball throwing gorrilas, walls that obscure the platforms you're standing on, and Giant Tellies that drop bombs which make the stage go up in flames, o yea and 1 smol Dragon right before him. You know how i said that there were 2 particularly nasty tricks in 2 of the bossfights? Well how do you think he's number 2? He has instant death spikes on both sides of his arena. You use the ice wall to push him into the spikes, but he has to be standing still and you have to see him go into the spikes AND it's not instakill for him ( it does nearly 1/3 of his health, though, so I guess it's ok)
Thank God they didn't bring back mega man 8's swimming controls. Pirate man's stage takes place underwater. There are a few gimmicks that can take some time (and patience) to learn, but he has one of the easier stages. The same is for his right if you use the wave burner from burner man. Beating him let's you unlock the weapon palace, a place that makes sure you have all the weapons. Now, we only have 3, but each time you break a seal, you get 100 bolts you can use in the shop for upgrades. Get the auto charger, you're gonna need it...
Ground man's stage has a few tricky parts, like the CD's you need the shock guard to get, but make sure to equip the auto charger right before the miniboss. It is a giant millipede robot, and can also turn on a dime, and takes years to kill. That is where the auto charger comes in handy. Equip it, as you probably won't want to hold down the charge button the whole time,.and you'll be set. Ground Man can dig underground, but using Pirate Man remote mine on him right before he goes under will stop him.
