So, illegal immigrants exter the country and are found. They have children with them (I'll get into that later). So, they are detained, because they broke the law. If they plead not guilty, they have to go through a whole court preceding. But, children can only be held for 21 days or something. So, the kids are taken to a camp or a sponsor to be looked after, rather than being in a detention centre. This policy was made by Obama, so kids aren't forced to stay in basically a prison. Also, some people take kids that aren't theirs with them to get a lighter sentece. Like, kidnapping children to take over the boarder. So, it sucks that they have to be seperated, but it's what needs to be done.

I'm not saying Trump isn't an awful president, just that I don't find this particular criticism to be accurate.
