For me, even though it a long and painful process, I just keep commenting on people I followed until they are willing to follow me. I like to give comment and "like" to those who have art talents, like you and Iluvpandas. Although it is painful that no one "like" or comment about my art, I feel better to give more and receive, like Santa, but I everyone have their own opinion and style though, so I won't judge!
