Love is… A shy kiss under the playground slides, Sweet, 6 year old smiles from across the room, Little letters placed in bags, Running away before they can respond, This is not love. Love is… Comforting a friend when someone dies, Slamming a shoe down on an innocent spider to make them feel safe, It’s knowing when they are upset and making them laugh, And making them smile Yes this is love. Love is… Changing who you are to get him to notice you, Pushing yourself to be what you think he wants, Do you even know him? No you don’t, This is not love. Love is… Mother punishing children, Teaching them what they did wrong, Watching them grow up, Hoping they will be alright in the real world This is love. Love is… Realizing that wanting something just to have it, Just to make me feel better is harmful to me, And then what if I hurt them Yes love is stopping before you hurt somebody I can love!
