Sterling looked at him and tilted her head, she shifted her wings. “Hello?”
Sterling got s little nervous but remained calm and in her spot. She looked up to him, “so, what’s your name?”
He looks amused,"I'm GUESSING that's you?" He slightly shifted,"I'm Slate"
She rolled her eyes at him, “yep that’s me; nice name, really suits you.”
He slightly smiled,"What brings you here?"He questioned in his dark voice
Her dark dull purple cloak sparkled, as did her cold blue eyes. “Just exploring I suppose, kinda nice to bump into a new face.”
He looked at you quite amused,"I don't usually get friendly faces that much,so it's kinda nice to see someone new as well..Well,by the looks of it, I guess you seem nice"
Sterling tilted her head s little, giving him a smirk. “Nice? Hmm..” she flicked her ear and stretched her wings, “I wouldn’t particularly call me nice just yet.”
He looked at you questioningly and braced himself,"Oh?"He murmured eyes glaring
She started to laugh, “kidding, I’m quite the trickster.” Sterling swayed her tail, her cloak seemingly to flow as if it were magic.
He sighed and stopped being so tense,"Very funny.."He smiled but said in a stern voice, watching her cloak flow with interest.
She winked at him jokingly, and looked down. “Your skull mask is nice.”
He wagged his tail,"Heh, thanks.I don't get too many NICE complements"
Sterling sat down and wrapped her cloak around her legs to hide everything but her neck and face. It shimmered and she looked back up to him, “that’s too bad, you seem like you need them.”
He sat down as well,"Eh,I'm used to being attacked, with and without words,It all comes back to the speaker one way or another..."He clawed the dirt slightly.
She sighed, “kinda messed up if ya ask me. You don’t deserve to be attacked.” She looked back to the ground.
"well-"He stopped and looked down, then back at you.Trying to change the subject he asked,"So..Is that thing magical?"He pointed to your cloak.
She noticed the topic change but didn’t say anything about it. “I guess it is.” She looked at it. “I’ll show you what it can do if you want.”
Sterling stood up and wrapped the cloak tightly around herself, she spun and disappeared. She reappeared without a sound behind him and tapped on his shoulder.
He jumped up and around, his fur spiking up and his teeth bared,"WHO- oh, it's you..sorry.Er-that's pretty cool"he looked down embarrassed,not really showing much.He hides his emotions behind his mask,so it looks like he's looking down
She giggled a little, “it’s alright.” She went to hug him but wasn’t sure if he’d be comfortable with that so she sat back down.
He looked at her,his fur beginning to flatten again,"Sorry for jumping, not used to surprises without them going wrong"
She hid herself underneath her cloak again. “That’s alright, I understand.”
He grunted looking side to side, weary of his surroundings.Getting up he paced a little.His fur semi bouncing.
She shrugged, covering the top of her face with her cloak hood. Only her muzzle was visible.
Sterling yawned and laid down, she hadn’t noticed he was no longer in sight.
He came back eventually with a rabbit,"I have returned, and I brought you-"He saw you were laying down.He walked over to you and placed it not to far away from you.He smiled that you hadn't ran way from him.Then he walked a little bit away and curled up with his head on his tail.
Sterling opened her eyes a little and threw her head back to make her hood fall. She looked at the rabbit then back up to Slate, noticing that he was laying down. “Thanks.” She said, a small smile appearing on her face before eating it.
She saved half the rabbit and picked it up, dropping it in front of him. “Here, you can have the rest.”
He talked as if he were at the lead of a pack,"Not unless you are satisfied,others come first,then me"He dipped his head and backed up from the rabbit
She tilted her head at his formality, she pushed it more towards him. “You deserve the rest of it, I’m done now.”
He sighed,"Fine,but i'm only making the acceptance once"He bent down and revealed his big teeth,his mask sliding down a bit.
She covered her eyes to make it seem like she wasn’t looking, but she could see through her cloak. She looked at where the mask slid down.
As far as the mask slid down, there was a view of scars.Eventually he pushed it back up and finished eating,his teeth and mask had traces of blood, making him look less trust-worthy
She wondered about the scars but decided not to bring it up. The blood on his mask made her uneasy, and she put her hood back down and backed away to make sure he didn’t attack her while her back was turned. she sat a fair distance away.
He stood up, again looking side to side."Hmmm"He lifted his ears for a minute and sniffed the air,"I be right back.."He said and hurriedly went back into the bushes.
She thought about teleporting farther away but decided not to. She uneasedly sat and waited for his return.
He came back with the scent of fear.He sat down uneasily,"So are you from around here..."He looked at you with sharp eyes
She questioned his scent to herself but didn’t say anything. She slowly got defensive, readying herself for him to attack her. She slightly bared her teeth, “yes, I am. What makes you ask?” She gave him a mean tone.
He got up puffing his fur making himself look bigger,"I, was just wondering.I haven't seen you here before"He sort of growled while he said that
She growled back, and stood up too. Her cloak stopped flowing and instead dropped to her paws. “I don’t usually come through here, maybe that’s why.”
He looked through fierce eyes, his fur spiked,his teeth barred,his mask with blood looked liked he killed for a living..."Probably a good thing,A dark forest isn't that safe for little one's like Y O U"
She snarled, her fur raising. Her cloak illuminated with a faint red. She got even more defensive, “maybe this is why nobody likes you. I’ve heard what you’ve done in the past, Slate” she growled.
He got really nervous and his stomach lurched, his mask hiding his emotions,"I-don't you DARE bring up my past!"He snarled deeply, looking ready to jump
She giggled, an evil look spread across her face, “oh, what are you gonna do? Cry? You said little ones dont belong in this forest, but here you are.” She got ready to bite him.
He Squinted his eyes and his pupils looked like little slits of black.He jumped at her snarling with rage, claws extended
She quickly spun around, teleporting behind him. “Nice try~” she teased. Her cloak dragged behind her as she ran into the bushes to avoid the fight. She didn’t want to attack or hurt him after he did something nice to her.
He skid on the ground and whipped around running after her, his paws thundering on the ground
She teleported shakily up into a tree, hanging onto a branch for dear life before climbing up and sitting on it.

He looked up the tree with fiery i his eyes he attempted clawing up his way up the tree
She didn’t react, “wow I really didn’t expect this to happen,” she paused to stare at him. “I can teach you how to climb if you want.”
She rolled her eyes and jumped down, she grabbed his paws. “Stop, you’ll hurt yourself.”
She didn’t seem very disturbed, she held his paws tightly. “Kill me if you want to but stop hurting yourself over it.”
He tipped his head a little then jumped on top of her,Growling in her ear he said,"So be it.."He raised his huge paw ready to kill, claws shining in the light....
She thought as he raised his paw, and then blurred out “if you kill me who’ll take care of my little brother? He can’t fend for himself.”
Mind:Don't do it! But she asked for it..She brought back the past,But still!
He snarled loudly then slammed his paw next to her head sending his blood at her face<"SCREW THIS SHIT!"he walked away growling loudly and leaving a trail of his paw blood
She jumped up and rubbed the blood off her face, before following him. “Let me take care of you first, I’m not letting you go around bleeding like that and possibly getting an infection.” She didn’t seem scared anymore.
He continued to walk.Annoyed he said,"I'm warning you, I can take care of myself!"He began to trot now
She rolled her eyes and teleported in front of him, forcing him to stop. She grabbed his paws again. “Let me take care of you because I don’t trust your medical knowledge.”
"I swear to-why do you even WANT to help ME!Huh?"He tried pulling his paws away from her."Are you trying to get killed?"He growled a little bit
"I've gotten the shit beat out f me before..I survived, I'm good.So let me be on my marry way!"
She growled at him and got into his face, “Let me take care of you or so help me! I’m trying to keep you in the least amount of pain possible, and I don’t care if you’ve survived worse I won’t let you get sick!”
He glared at her.He murmured,"I swear..."he shook his head<"If you want to help, make it fast, I have other things to do.."
She pulled out cobwebs and cleaning elements, tending to his wounds and sterilizing them best she could. She wrapped the cobwebs around his paws tightly to stop dirt and other debris from getting into his cuts and reduce swelling. “Try not to damage these,” She looked up at him and put his paws back down. She put everything back in her cloak somewjere.
He tilted his head, then grunted,"No promises"He got up and began to walk away

As he walked ,he sighed relieved,"Thanks, I guess"He called over his shoulder

She huffed, “you’re welcome.” She hopped up the tree again.
He felt strange that someone helped him, almost after he tried to kill them
Her cloak began to flow magically again, as she had calmed down. Her tail hung limp from the tree branch, she watched him walk away.
He stopped for a minute and thought to himself,maybe check the area for danger before I leave...
She yawned and let her legs and tail dangle from the branch, her cloak stopped flowing again to cover her.
Eventually after going in a circle to see if there was any danger he watched through the bushes and saw her in the tree
She kept her eyes open to make sure nothing dangerous was stalking her, and she didn’t notice him.
He squinted his eyes and though she might be hungry again, so he went out to hunt, he eventually came back.Since he was experienced, he crept to the tree,placed down his kill, and walked back in the bushes.
She saw the rabbit and jumped down to eat it. She smelled him on it and looked around after she was done, “thanks.” She didn’t see him but sensed his presence near by. She flew back into the tree.
He smiled,knowing she knew it was from him.He was pretty facinated that she could fly.Looking at her wings,he sighed,"If only I had those..."He touched his mask.
She flew back down to look for him in the bushes, she smelled the air and bumped into him. “Oh, sorry. There you are”
She hugged him quickly and then backed up, “what’re you doing in the bushes?”
He tensed,"I-"he felt strange,"Just trying to do so payback for your good deeds"He stood taller.Then he fixed his mask trying not to reveal anything
He sighed,"As an a- wolf with smart's...I am willing to repay.That's just how it is for me."He dipped his head with respect
She did it back and then spread her wings to fly, “did you want to learn how to climb?”
He looked down then back up embarrassed showing no emotion,"Yes"he said through a stern voice
“Great, follow me.” She flew upwards and to a small clearing, it had treestumps of multiple heights. She landed in front of the shortest one.
“Okay so,” she started. “Put your claws here, and position them like this.” She grabbed his paws and set them into the position. (I have no idea how climbing actually works so pretend this is accurate lmao.) “now jump up and put your back claws into the bark to keep steady, then reach higher with your front ones and repeat.”

He began to do what you told him,moving slowly so he didn't fall,but managing to climb upward shakily
She smiled at him, “good job!” She moved to the next trunk, “now try this one, it’s a little higher.”
He hoped down walking to the next one,"Hopefully I get the hang of this
He began to climb again, not as shaky as last time, but still slow
He jumped on the next one, climbing a bit faster and with a minimum of shakiness,"Starting to get better.."
She smiled and nodded her head at him, there were 2 trunks left before a full grown tree. She stepped towards the next. “There’s one more after this and then a full grown tree.”
He walked over to the next doing it much faster,not shaking at all
She nodded at him, “practice makes perfect!” She smiled. “You can do the rest without me nearby.”
He smiled,"sure thing!"He ran to the next, acing it,Then for the big tree.Slate looked up at it, almost as if it were challenging him.He squinted his eyes approval, then jumped."one paw, another paw,jump..."He said quietly to himself
He looked down to see he was up pretty high,"I'm doing it!..I'm doing
I-"He slid down the trunk, the bark tearing at his paws,making him bleed again."Shit..."He shook his head and began again, sending little droplets of blood down.
She gasped and ran to the trunk, “come back down!” She worried for his paws and health again.
"I'm good!"He climbed on.he whispered,"I don't give up that easy"
She whimpered a little and flew up to him. “Come back down, let me retreat your wounds.”
He kept on climbing and looked at the tree,"Your gonna distract me..I'll let you treat them after"
She sighed, “fine.” She landed back down and sat, covering everything but her head and neck with her cloak again.
He was almost at the top,determined he was gonna make it, his paws hurt and bleeding,"Almost there..."
She worried he was going to fall, and she got ready to dive to catch him.
He finally made it to the top and sighed,"An a- wolf..never gives up!"He howled with joy and pride and began to climb down,eventually jumping off and landing on the ground, wincing in pain a little
She rolled her eyes and clapped, grabbing his paws gently and removing the old cobwebs. She cleaned his wounds and rewrapped them with new cobweb. “There.”
"Thanks,yet again...Is there anything I can assist you with, as my payment?"He held his head high with pride
He looked at her with no expression, like he was not going to do it,then he hugged you.
She smiled and hugged him back, her cloak partially wrapped around him as well.
He felt the warmth of her and never really felt comfort until now,"Well this...Warmth is strange..."
“I have blood you dummy,” she jokingly teased. She looked up to him.
He smiled like he meant it for once,"I've never felt warmth,only when it's-never mind..."He stiffened
He sighed,"O-only when..."he didn't want to say because he thought you would run from him, but he said it anyway...
"Only when I feel it leave the things I kill or am supposed to kill,because..I'm..Do I really have to telly you?"He got really nervous again just like when you said you knew his past
She rolled her eyes, “it’s fine, nothings wrong with that to me, I don’t really care.” She got closer and her cloak covered him, she closed her eyes.
She sighed. “Even if I don’t, and if I did, I doubt I’d care. You’re you now and that’s all that matters. The past is the past, it’s the present and the future now.”
'That's what I'm mean...You probably would care"He got up and looked you stern in the eyes,looking scary and big
She huffed, “no I’m pretty carefree. I only get mad with you when you attack my brother. You lay a pawpad on him and your head is mine. However you’ve done nothing to him so I don’t care about your past, I was trying to get a one-up on you during our little fight earlier.” She stared him back in the eyes.
she cuddled close to him and her cloak stayed around him, keeping him warm. She closed her eyes. “Why?”
He sighed,he,knew you were going to find out somehow."I-i'm an assassin...I K I L L for a living, once I'm givin' a task, I don't back down until I have won..."He pointed to his mask"Bad luck..I still won.Until I have won, then I get MY share.."He said coldly,not showing emotion
She looked a little creeped out, “hmm, okay. I don’t care. Just as long as you’re not assigned me to kill then I don’t care. I still lo.. consider you a friend.” She smiled at him, but her creeped out look stayed in her eyes.
He looked down,"What i'm told to do I'm told to do...I'm one of the best around"The mask seemed to look more realistic by the second...
She got tense. She felt like running away but she stayed leaning against him. “If you get assigned me or my brother you’re dead.” She stared him down.
"..."He looked away,"I should probably get going...I-I have work to do..."
She stood up and her cloak slid away from him. She looked angry, but wished him well. “Okay then, I guess I’ll see you later. Good luck whatever you’re doing, just leave my brother alone please.”
As he got up to walk away he said,"I'm not sure i'll be the dead one..."
Sterling whimpered, she trotted behind him, "wait, what did you mean?" she frowned.
He stood still for a second,"I-"He shook his head low''You said'I'd be the dead one if I hurt your brother' But-"He sighed"I have to go."
He turned around,"No,But If I was-"He whispered"Hopefully i'm not.."He got louder again,"I wouldn't be the dead one"
"What?I'm guessing your mad now, huh?Well that's not my problem..As I said before, I'm an assassin,best around,and I can't just give up my survival of making my home safer,now if you excuse me I was assigned to do somethin..Good day to you."He turned and began to walk away again
She barked loudly at him and walked away, jumping up a tree and staring at him as he walked.
He didn't look back, only looking forward to the new task ahead of him
Her tail swayed irritated, she stared at him angrily and flew off, seemingly to disappear.
