Before the present time in my universe, everyone lived in peace within the large kingdom, which’s name has been long forgotten. Everyone calls this time “Before”, because they never like to go into detail...
It all started when the king and queen (Spriggo and Heather) fell ill. They were unfit to rule for months, leaving the military to run the kingdom, no particular person was in charge, however. It was found out that they had been poisoned with Oleander Flowers, which they were both very allergic to as well, adding insult to injury. They died shortly after it was found out. They had not prepared anyone to rule, but the deceased king had a younger brother who stepped in. Nobody knew this at the time, but he was the one who poisoned them. Now as king, he caused the whole kingdom to fall into anarchy, with the borders closed to prevent anyone getting in or out. At first, people were civil, they knew there were no laws, but they didn’t want to turn into beasts... (continuing into next comment)
However, people started losing jobs due to companies going bankrupt. The king was taking all of people’s money so he could trade with other nations to get more luxurious foodstuffs and furniture, all for himself. People could no longer buy food. They stole food... then there was no food left...........
and so.., they started eating each other.
Extreme brutality, blood everywhere, cities ravaged. Eventually people ran out of shelter, as well. So many lives were lost.
Meanwhile, the general of the kingdom’s military (more so royal guards at this point) had a child. The child had a rare condition where her aura was nullified, which proved to be useful later on. She was named Shoe, and she was raised by her mother until she was about 4, capable of reading and speaking as many words as the general could teach. Eventually, she told Shoe to keep a secret, for if the people knew her mother was the general, she would be a target. The general abandoned Shoe near a waterfall later that night.
