LinkSo this is gonna be a tedious explaination lmao, but I'll try to make it as simple as possible-
First things first, the djinn equips:
So, a djinn is sort of like a spirit that the characters in Magi are able to aquire. They are aquired in something called a dungeon, where they are forced to complete tasks and challenges, then the djinn will decide if they are worthy. A very important thing to know is tha the Djinn has to have a circuit, for example, a sword. Kougyoku (one of the characters) houses her djinn in her hairpin, and when she wishes to summon her Djinn (Vinea), she pulls out her hairpin and calls the name (Vinea lol.)

My OC's Djinn household is her hairpin as well.
The attire in Magi is really whatever you choose, within reason. An example of bad/unrealistic clothing is ripped jeans and a tank-top. An example of good clothing would be a kimono, airy and simple dress, etc.

So there are multiple races/Clans in Magi.
A good example is the Fanalis race. The Fanalis race always has red/pink hair and eyes, no matter what. The Fanalis have amazing leg strength, and are most susceptibleto being kidnapped as slaves.

There is Reim, which is basically run by the Magi Scheherazade

LinkWhat is a Magi?:
A Magi is someone born with infinte rukh, which is basially a power source and the souls of the dead. (Rukh can also be called Magoi, which is how Djinns work.)
Magi's can also summon dungeons.

LinkIt sounds a complicated but its really not once you get used to eat/watch the anime.
Also, it may help if you look up Magi oneshots/ Magi x reader, that way you can get to know some of the characters better and the whole theme(s).

I'll just use my OC Amaterasu for example:
So lets start with her name- obviously you wanna choose a Japanese name, so if you need inspiration just google Japanese names lol
The name Amaterasu means Goddess of the sun, so I wanted her to have a djinn that dealt with fire. So, me being soooo original, googled the goddess of fire or whatever, and Pele came up, so thats what I named her djinn. Basically just choose a name, and an element fire, water, wind, etc., google the goddess of your element, or you can just google cool Japanese names XD
When transforming, they sometimes say a little speech or whatever. Example: "Spirit of revenge, dwell within my frame and help me to become a powerful being, Pele!" other times they just grab their metal vessels (the thing that houses their Djinn) and call out their name
Character's backstory:

Name: Dai Amaterasu
The tenth princess and priestess of The Dai Empire. She is the youngest and most protected child in the Empire, she is also the only Dungeon capturer. Her Djinn is Pele, and her element of fire. She also has a gardian, its sort of a pheonix/wolf hybrid, it's name is Asahi.
Name:Fūjin Uke Mochi
The fifth goddes of the Fūjin empire.She is one of the older members of the empire and enjoys helping protect the younger children of the Empire she is the third Dungeon capturer.Her Djinn is Fajijn her element of Wind and food.She refuses to have a guardian to prove she can protect herself
*Amaterasu sat in her room on her rug, that was bright shades of blue and white. Her light lavender hair fell delicately off her shoulders and onto the cold floor below her. She sighed and looked longingly out of her large window, overlooking the large city. She had been isolated her entire life, except for when she was sent out to capture a dungeon. She stood up, and walked over to her door, opening it and walking down the hall. She headed to the throne room, where her parents were*
|:|Fūjin lay on the grassy moor of her home,feeling the breeze on her face made her calm and happy as the world around her went silent except for the birds chirping.To Fūjin it felt relaxing to get some time to herself and be away from the city and go to places that she would only be for a short while |:|
*Amaterasu knocked on the large, gold decorated door of the throne room. The husky voice of her father telling her to come in sounded from the other side. She timidly opened the door and bowed her head in the presence of her parents. She slowly approached the throne, were she bowed. When she stood straight again, she no longer his her face with her long sleeves, and the determined look on her face was completely visible* I wish to travel outside of Dai, Mother, Father. I believe it will be for the better if I'm able to create peace with the surrounding kingdoms- *before she could go on, her father lifted his hand* Alright. *her mother's eyes widened as she began objecting, only to be hushed by her father* I think it's a fine idea. You need a little exposure anyway. You may travel to the Fujin Empire first.
*Amaterasu's eyes widened as she smiled brightly* Thank you father! *she turned on her heel and headed out of the room, eager to leave*
(I bet the mom is just death staring the dad lol) |:|Fūjin sat up straight to get a better view of the beautiful environment,she sighed wishing things would always be this quiet and peaceful “I don’t feel like going back home,not yet” she said to herself trying to deny the fact she would have to go back very soon.|:|
*The Dai Empire sent word the next day that the tenth Princess of Dai would be visiting the Fujin Empire (so Fujin's parents could like tell her that she's coming lol). Amaterasu was currently in a carriage headed for her destination. She blinked and looked around in boredom. She grabbed her hairpin and smiled* Asahi. *a warm light surrounded the hairpin and a sphinx-like creature appeared, the shade of deep crimson with flame like tufts of fur here and there. The creature hummed deeply in greeting*
|:|Later that same day Fūjin told she was called by her parents to be talked to,she had went back to the city and was traveling to her parents room.She walked up the stairs to her parents throne room,she knocked on the door and her mother called for her to come in she carefully moved close to the door the three sapphires felt cold to the touch as she Pressed her hand on the door to open it.She now we when she came in then walked in front of her mother and father bowing again|:| “Mother,Father what have you called me here for?” |:|Fūjin said politely|:|
*Amaterasu looked at her friend with a soft smile as the creature yawned harshly* How's Pele doing..? *Amaterasu cocked her head as she thought of her raven haired djinn. Asahi licked her paw and looked at her master with pale, pupiless eyes* Fine. *Asahi's voice was deep, and rough, almost like a growl. You'd never guess she was a female*
|:|Her mother smiled sweetly and began|:| “We will have a visitor coming soon,we already told the others and I think you are the one of all of them that would make the best guide if for them.” “That’s excellent!” |:|Fūjin exclamed|:| “But Who will it be?” “The tenth princess of the Dai Empire,she will be here shortly actually so I would like you to get ready.” |:|Fūjin’s mother explained and Fūjin nodded bowed then waved goodbye to her mother and father before exiting the room|:|
*Amaterasu felt herself lurch forward as the carriage came to a halt. Asahi looked out of the window, as did Amaterasu. She gasped at the beautiful kingdom that lay waiting outside the carriage. The door swung open, and Ama faced a guard that stood there with his head bowed. He reached his hand out and she politely took it, hopping gracefuly out of the carriage, as Asahi followed*
|:|Fūjin had dressed in a fine silken lavender dress with flowers patterns woven down the sleeves and bottom of the dress,she was barefoot but wore multiple gold bracelets on her wrist|:| “I’m ready...” |:|She said too herself|:| “I’m not ready.” |:|She said putting her hands on her face and giving a deep sigh |:| “It’s not like I have a choice...” |:|She nodded at one of her guards and then bowed and walked forward leading her to meet Amaterasu.|:|
*Amaterasu dipped her head to the guard, and looked forward, her eyes widening as she saw a beautiful woman adorned with bracelets and the color lavender. She smiled, her eyes shining to know someone shared her love for the color purple. She hid her face with her sleeves as she stood straighter* 'alright Ama,' *she said to herself* 'time to make a friend!' *Asahi stepped off to the side, and bowed her head*
|:|Once Fūjin was in front of Amaterasu she nodded to her guard he walked aside Fūjin bowed and dipped her head in greeting to Amaterasu|:| “Hello princess Amaterasu.” |:|Said Fūjin keeping her face Straight even though the emotions insides her were buzzing with excitement|:|
“Same for you...I’m sorry I was not told that princess Amaterasu had a guardian what is your name?” |:|Fūjin repiled|:|
*Asahi adverted her eyes from the ground to Fujin, and she lifted her head* My name is Asahi. *she bowed her head again*
*Amaterasu smiled softly* Don't mind her, she's just afraid to speak, because she's fearful of being disrespectful. She speaks without thinking. *she chuckled with a sleeve over her mouth*
“I do not mind mistakes are nothing close to being disrespectful.Now how about we stop standing around and let me given our tour.”|:|Fūjin turned around and waved her hand signaling her guard to come and follow her.|:|
|:|Fūjin came to a halt in a certain part of the city.|:| “This is the trading center” |:|She sighed|:| “I really like going here to see all the new things the civilians have for trade,take a look around if you like if you want anything I will gladly buy it for you.” |:|The city was full and people were buying and trading things left and right,Amaterasu sees three children playing happily with a straw doll and leftover pieces of felt.|:|
*Amaterasu stared at the children in awe. When she was a child, she wasn't allowed to run around and play, not even with her many sisters. She felt a frown spread across her face recalling the gray memories of her many princess lessons, and learning how to tame her priestess powers. But she shook her head and smiled again, facing Fujin* It's fine, there's no need to buy me anything...
|:|Fūjin looked at Amaterasu for a second before nodding and moving on.|:| “Next we will be going to the hotel of the city,I think you will enjoy going there for the people are very kind.” |:|Fūjin walked a little faster and looked back every couple of minutes to make sure princess Amaterasu was still behind her.|:|
*Amaterasu forced her short legs to move faster, as Asahi swiftly walked beside her. Amaterasu blinked, not liking the sudden silence, when she suddenly smiled* So, Princess Fujin, is there anyone you're... well, in love with..? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to! I'm just trying to y'know, make a friend... *she chuckled awkwardly* I've never really done this before.
|:|Fūjin chuckled lightly|:| “No not yet but one day,you?” |:|She said turning her head around to look at princess Amaterasu.|:|
|:|Fūjin nodded|:| “Ten of them,most of them are younger than me though.”
|:|“Not like that made a difference.” Sighed Fūjin while thinking “I almost never got time to play with them.”|:|
*Amaterasu smiled* I have ten too! They’re all girls, but they’re a lot older than me- *she sighed* the only one I’m really close with is Tsurara. My eldest sister Misao scares me... *she giggled, and then another thought popped into her head* oh! I almost forgot! Do you have a Djinn?
“Yes I do actually!” |:|Fūjin smiled|:| “Oh but I will have to show you later because we are here!” |:|You stood in the front of a huge hotel with people looking from balconies and sitting in the front of the building.|:|
“Yes and the people are very nice!” |:|Fūjin lead them both inside and almost instantly they got greeted|:|
“Hello!” |:|Said one of the people working at the hotel|:| “How May I help you all?”
“Oh well take your time!” |:|He said before walking off|:| “After looking around would you like to visit the castle?” |:|Fūjin said politely hoping to start up conversation|:|
|:|After showing princess Ama around she waved bye to the workers of the hotel and walked out.|:| “Princess Amaterasu would you like to travel to the castle by foot,or would you like a carriage ride.” |:|Fùjin said without turning around|:|
*Amaterasu smiled and didn’t answer her. She simply pulled out her hairpin and held it in the air, her long sleeves fanning out* Asahi! *there was a bright light that flashed, and a flame bounced on the floor, turning into the Sphinx again* we can just fly there! *she sat on Asahi side-ways and smiled at Fujin, lightly patting her back, signaling for her to get on*
|:|Fujin looked in awe for a second before walking toward them and climbed onto Asahi,she finally got her balance and sat upright.|:| “Is this...safe?” |:|She said wearily|:|
|:|Fūjin closed her eyes tightly not ready for the impact of flight, “Don’t look down Fūjin don’t look down...” she said in her head repeatedly|:|
|:|Fūjin looked up and smiled at her nodding|:| “Thank you for the reassurance.” |:|Fūjin sat up straight again and looked ahead|:|
“Now that we are here” |:|Said Fūjin brushing herself off|:| “What would you like to do first?”
|:|Fūjin smiled.|:| “I could use the practice,let us go now!” |:|Fūjin was already speed walking to the court|:|

*Amaterasu bounced over to a spot in the court that was plenty spacious for her and Fujin. She smirked and furrowed her eyebrows* Now then- *she began* summon your Djinn!
(here comes a long and detailed description of her transformation XD)
*she reached back behind her head with her right hand and grabbed onto the flower shaped design, sliding it out of the hairpiece. She sliced her arm up toward the sky and held the pin above her head. A bright light flowed from the hairpin as she smiled wildly, her gaze darker and her voice a bit huskier* Pele! *the ground shook harshly as a bright flame appeared at her feet and engulfed her body. When the flame dispersed, she no longer held a small golden hairpin. She now held a large golden sword with patterns here and there and designs like fire. She also wore a much more revealing outfit, that consisted of black and red, and she had raven hair*
|:|Fūjin grinned and ran over she came to a halt when she was on the opposite side of Amaterasu|:| “Let’s” |:|She bent her back and lifted her leg,the dress moved down and revealed a dark purple bracelet tied around her foot she let it loop into her hand then she sat up straight with her arms in a x crossed position|:| “Spirit Of storms, hear my words and grasp onto the soul inside me and make the shallow breeze a vengeful tornado! Anemoi!” |:|With that the ground shook once more and the small breeze that you had started swarming around her until you could no longer see her body as if she was trapped in a small tornado. Just then the harsh wind slowed to reveal Fūjin the bracelet you had seen for a brief moment in her hands was now a iron white sword lavender gems crusted in the middle she wore also a more revealing outfit, that was a pale lily white with blue and silken lavender, and she now had pale silver hair|:|

|:|She charged at Amaterasu with all her might and made swift movements darting from left to right, a strategy to confuse her opponent before striking|:|
*Amaterasu leaned back slightly, digging her heels into the ground more harshly this time, causing small cracks to form in the soft dirt. She waited for Fujin to get close enough before jumping into the air with a grunt. She flew landed a few yards behind her, and slashed her sword down, sending a huge burst of flames rippling towards her*
|:|Fujin turned around quickly and stomped into the ground and leaped right before the flames got to her, she was falling down quickly and with her sword in her hands she raised it above her head, the moment she was about to hit the floor she slammed her sword into the ground and it sent a strong wind that pushed you back.The flames were now extinguished so she let out a cry and darted toward princess Amaterasu once more darting from left to right but this time when she was close enough to Ama she slashed her sword fiercely causing the air to split|:|
*Amaterasu's eyes widened as she knit her eyebrows and grit her teeth, as she was propelled backward. She tumbled and then dug her feet into the ground. She looked up, her icy blue eyes seeming to glow despite her darkened gaze. She held her sword above her head and turned it, as she called out* Extreme magic! *another burst of flames surrounded her, swirling like water in a cauldron, as she slashed her sword downward, the ground splitting as the cracks filled with buring flames* Heliopa Al-Alar!! *the flames burned brighter and brighter as they raced toward Fujin, crashing into her and sending her backward, fire dancing around her body and searing her skin*

|:|Fūjin grunted and slammed her sword into the ground trying to clear some of the flames, it did very little so Fūjin grinned and said to herself|:| “look like its my turn.” |:|She got up and slammed her foot onto the ground|:| “Extreme Magic!” The breeze place more surrounded her getting faster and faster becoming bigger and bigger she slashed her sword downward into the ground and the land shook almost causing Fūjin to lose her balance|:| “Pa'ir Al-Hazard!” |:|A raging tornado charged towards you surrounded you, the wind was so fierce the way the sound pierced the wind was ear splitting. The wind was so strong it burned your flesh to the feel of it|:|
|:|Fūjin smiled weakly and laid on the ground for a bit longer|:| “That” |:|She said through heavy panting|:| “Was amazing.”

*Ama smirked and snickered* Told you I was amazing! *she sat up and pressed her thumb to her chest, signaling to herself, as her djinn equip dispersed, leaving her with lavender hair, and her heavy robes. She stood up and slid her hairpin back into place, covered her face with her sleeves, and walked over to her friend. She held her hand out for Fujin and lifted her to her feet*

“Ok! We always have super fresh ones! Come on!” |:|She held onto Amaterasu’s hand and starting speed walking there “It’s nice having a friend” thought Fūjin|:|
