Emma had a dog. That dog was seemingly harmless until i realized it an teleport. I didn't like how his fur was clumped up with some kind of sticky substance. Emma got caught by her neighbors burning a body in her fire pit. They called the police quickly. Emma surrendered and told them to not harm her dog. Her dog was safe and has sent to a shelter. The dog hated the smell of the building so he'd always teleport outside and wander around and before dark teleport back to not raise suspicion. A little 7 year old adopted him and loved him so much. He hated having a new owner at first but he realized how innocent and small the kid was and decided to stay and protect him. Soon he thought it was safe to shift into a boy to at least spy on his kid when he went to school. He found out the kid was getting bullied for having two differently colored eyes and big ears calling him dumbo. He was furious! He protected his kid from the bullies and stayed silent through the whole thing. The kid nicknamed him "Mystery kid"
