My spirit animal is a spotted hyena.
He/she appears to me in dreams, or sometimes an an incorporeal life appearance.
Story of how I found out she/he was my spirit animal:
I used to want to be cool and popular, and have a wolf spirit animal, like everyone else. In reality, y’all gotta face the facts, your ACTUAL spirit animal probably isn’t a wolf. I had that problem too, and so did all my friends. They all found their REAL spirit animals, turning out to be coyotes, cats, and monkeys. Mine turned out to be a hyena.
I’m very happy with her/him now. Y’all gotta learn to appreciate your non-wolf spirit animals
Deer (white-tailed)
I don't see them in dreams, but they come around my house
I'd say I'm a deer because of the characteristics, it's a more skiddish animal but also gentle and caring.
I see myself the same way, and would often rather be diplomatic than fight

Have you ever attempted meeting your personal spirit animal though?
What I do is think very hard about hyenas, and look at pictures, and she comes to me in a spiritual form. She’s a pretty fun little hyena, always cheering me up. You could to the same with your white tailed deer.
To me I would most likely be a dog, because I'm crazy but can guide others, and can become friends with somebody very easily.
