(i copy pasted before uploading this, just in case some asshole wants to make me pissed) i’ve been having random outbursts of art block, and it's been nagging at me; am i getting worse at drawing? it’s not a question to you people, it’s to myself and my feelings. i just feel like the more i practice, the more i lose my ability to draw. like it’s draining me. slowly. and i guess, yeah, i’m getting worse. is it ok, though, is what i need to know. people lose respect in you if you don't do your job, let alone do it right. in this case, i’m losing artistic skill, and most artists lose respect and patience for you if you don't draw good. miss-everfree, for example; everytime i see her art i get super happy! i love it! her art is beautiful. and i feel like i can always do better after seeing it, too. but then i try and it crumbles apart… so, i’ve been procrastinating on art for a bit, and that’s why i’ve been lost for a while. in fact, riya was just me doodling shit, so i don’t get why i

(continued) love her so much. i guess me doodling is better than me actually trying to make a good oc? mimi was me doodling, skie (now) was me doodling, and i can admit that doodling had a decent chunk of silver’s design, too. it makes me feel a little worse about myself, knowing that when i don’t try, it turns out better than when i do. i’ve just been out of a lot of things, i guess. i don’t know why.

i just don't get it; why it's NOW, right after i get some rotted happiness back, that i can't do what i love to do best? it pisses me off, to say the very least.

but people do encourage me. a lot. but i don't really accept it because i either think they're lying or they're just not wanting to give me criticism. which, both are not what you should do.

you can draw! everyone can; maybe not as good as others, but if you can put pen to paper and draw anything— hell, a circle (whether lopsided or not)— then you can draw! everyone has their own hobby, and if some person's just happens to be art, then that's what they're best at. and it's unique in the style they could draw in.

tracing may help you get an idea what you ca draw, but it doesn't help you. i'd stop tracing.. (i stopped tracing around six years ago.)
