Like, at first I saw HG Violet do it and thought it was her thing that people copied, but then I saw someone do it who I seriously doubt would copy a trend off this site, so what's up?

Linksometimes drawing two eyes is too hard.
and it's difficult to make the identical.
HGviolet did not start this trend, it's just always been a thing
