Melody's head ached, she attempted to stand up but collapsed. She turned her head towards Alex and Jax, her hair and fur soaked from the salty ocean water she had emerged from earlier. Her hair dangled onto the ground, her tail still in the seawater. Evergreen slowly opened his eyes, he as well groaned in pain. He didn't attempt to move.

She looked back down to the ground, then to Evergreen as she heard his groan. "Evergreen?" she struggled to say. She was winded, she couldn't breathe. She crawled over to him, grabbing his paw. "Get up." She sounded demanding but worried. Evergreen sighed, "can't you see I'm in pain, Melody?" He snapped. He winced as a pain shot through him every few seconds, but he got into a sitting position. "Where are we? What's going on?" he questioned. Melody didn't know how to respond so she stayed quiet.

Melody worriedly looked at Evergreen's missing leg, its bandage was gone. "Oh.." she covered her mouth with the back of her paw. "Evergreen, your leg!" she sounded concerned. Evergreen sighed, "it's fine. It's not an open wound anyway, it was just so it didn't get scratched and re-opened. It's fine. We need to find shelter before dark, I don't know when that is though." His bright green eyes scanned the land, he spotted Alex and Jax. "There's two other people here," he pointed to them. Melody turned her head to them, "I know," she said.

Melody got nervous and cuddled close to Evergreen. Her eyes were wide and she started to look around more. She sighed. Evergreen growled at Jax, he held Melody close to him to make her feel safe. "You're fine," he rolled his eyes at her.

Evergreen grabbed the stick and wacked Alex on the head as hard as he could to keep him asleep. Melody tensed.

Dusk started to approach the skies, seemingly to flood them. It swallowed the light, until all that was left was the sounds and echos of the animals lurking in the unknown. The ocean's sounds filled the air, Evergreen held Melody close as he dragged himself to a small cave. Melody crawled behind him, as they entered. She shivered.

Evergreen looked over at the fire, he protected Melody. He was much bigger than her, and he kept her hidden even though she was such a bright pink. Melody closed her eyes and cuddled Evergreen.

Evergreen growled at them, "keep it down. She's asleep," his voice was deep and intimidating.

Evergreen jumped up and shoved Alex into the fire by accident. He snarled, and returned to where Melody was. He curled around her, he saw her as a little sister.

Evergreen took off the grey bandana around his neck and put it on Melody instead, keeping her a little bit warmer as a frigid breeze came through. This island was located north, where the nights were a lot colder than the days. Melody struggled in her sleep to be warm. She kept close to Evergreen.

Evergreen didn't react. He knew they were stupid anyway, so he didn't engage. Melody stayed asleep.

Evergreen rolled his eyes, he tried to block out the noise of them. He closed his eyes.

Evergreen sat up and jumped at them, he barked. "Be quiet! We're trying to sleep, don't force me to make you shut up!" he snapped. Melody woke up in a panic.

Evergreen huffed and walked back to Melody. He seemingly passed out immediately. Melody cuddled him again and fell asleep as well.
