LinkJust a few questions for you to consider, for Both the religious and non-religious. When I say religion, I also mean "Or lack thereof". You don't need to answer in the comments, just something for personal reflection
Were you born into the religion you are part of.
Would you believe it if you weren't?
Could it be that one of the other religions is right, if so, would you switch if you found a more accurate one?
Are there parts of your holy text that you disagree with?
If so, how do you believe any of it, if you can't believe all of it, or, if some of it is false, why believe some is true?
Is there any evidence other than your holy text that your holy text is true?
If you believe in an all knowing, all loving and all powerful god, do you believe this god could allow all of the atrocities in the world to happen?
If your God is all knowing, and beyond space and time, could "he" know that the bad things that have happened would happen if "he" created the world as he did?

LinkIs your religion the best explanation for the way the world is?
Do you accept modern findings of the world into your beliefs if they are demonstrably true, even if they go against your beliefs or your holy text's words?
If your holy text says that your god is compassionate, is there no part of it that shows a skewed moral perspective, such as hatred of different people or male ownership of women?
If there are such examples, do you believe that these are examples of compassion?

LinkHow do you deal with any contradictions in your holy text, if there are any.
Feel free to leave your questions here. This isn't a religious debate, or calling out different religions.
This is for personal reflection, don't be a dick.
I was born into my religion.
I probably wouldn’t have believed it if I wasn’t.
I haven’t found any other religion I think is more “accurate”, so I don’t think I’ll ever switch.
That’s a bit complicated. I do believe some parts of the Bible, but I don’t believe it all. It’s kind of weird... I don’t believe it all because I sometimes think during the periods of time the Bible was here, people could’ve changed what was originally written in it. I guess it just ties in with that fact that I don’t trust people at all. Also, I just think that some of the stuff, or “rules” the Bible has is just...stupid. Not to be rude aaaa, but I personally don’t believe in it. The reason I still managed to believe in it at all is because I have had a lot of paranormal experiences as a child, so I think, if there’s an evil..there has to be good. Right?
No, it’s a matter of spiritually. We don’t need no other evidence, we can feel it in our gut, heart, or whatever.
Personally, I believe God lets all the bad things happen for we can learn lessons or because we’ve driven so far away from him/it, he can’t do much to our world because of that, so he just waits till we all die so he can personally judge us...that’s what I believe uuuuuuuuh
Yes.
Yep. I need someone to hold onto.
Kind of. It’s complicated because if stuff clashes with my religion, I have to see it with my own eyes to believe it because as I said I don’t trust people at all.
Okay, no. In the Bible, sure, it says he is compassionate and gentle and stuff, But there is parts when he gets angry. It supposedly says it’s because the people has disobeyed him. I forgot what chapter, but there was a part when the people were stealing stuff from Jesus’ shrine or temple for their own desires and Jesus got angry and whipped them all with a whip or somethin’
I don’t know. I just ignore them and believe what I believe.
ALRIGHT SO I THOUGHT MORE CLEARLY.
Okay so back to the whole god is compassionate thing..
So, from the perspective of my religous side, God will never be angry as well as Jesus, (I just said that because I didn’t know how to describe it) They both just feel sad. Like, when we commit sins, when we stray away from them. They feel sad, and maybe cry because he’s sees it as “we’ve done everything for you, why must you disobey me”
The same goes to the Jesus situation I said. When Jesus found out about what the people said, he was shocked. He was shocked and frustrated. He wasn’t necessarily angry, he wondered “why have you’ve done this if all I’ve given you miracles” so, he started destroying things out of frustration and sadness.
I guess I'll answer, why not.
Were you born into the religion you are part of.
I was born into Church of England Christianity and am now an agnostic Atheist
Would you believe it if you weren't?
I only believed because of my family
Could it be that one of the other religions is right, if so, would you switch if you found a more accurate one?
I did.
Are there parts of your holy text that you disagree with?
If so, how do you believe any of it, if you can't believe all of it, or, if some of it is false, why believe some is true?
This is why I lost my belief
Is there any evidence other than your holy text that your holy text is true?
I don't think there is.
If you believe in an all knowing, all loving and all powerful god, do you believe this god could allow all of the atrocities in the world to happen?
I no longer do, but I used to believe they were tests or something, like Job.
If your God is all knowing, and beyond space and time, could "he" know that the bad things that have happened would happen if "he" created the world as he did?
This isn't something I ever thought about as a Christian, so I can't give my Christian view.
Is your religion the best explanation for the way the world is?
My agnostic atheism allows for me to accept the best explanations I get, so, yeah, I believe so.
Do you accept modern findings of the world into your beliefs if they are demonstrably true, even if they go against your beliefs or your holy text's words?
Yes, as long as there's good evidence.
If your holy text says that your god is compassionate, is there no part of it that shows a skewed moral perspective, such as hatred of different people or male ownership of women?
If there are such examples, do you believe that these are examples of compassion?
I never thought of this as a Christian.
