LinkA little black one.
Well the only bad luck you'd worry about is being sued or worse for stealing someone's pet, even if it doesn't have a collar, it could still be someone's pet. You should probably just wait, if it follows you home it could be curious, or lost. In that case take it inside with your parents permission. Also keep on the lookout for pet flyers.
Well, I mean yeah, I would do that, buuuut, I would only be able to do that when I'm out of the house. Not only am I allergic to cats but my mom is as well. She's HIGHLY allergic and the slightest touch will probably cause an allergic reaction. But to be honest, if a person lost their pet in some accident or maybe it just ran away, maybe they didn't deserve to have it in the first place?
Good point, but you still still should find some kind of way to confirm the pet has been abandoned and whatnot.
Abandoned Pet: They usually look hungry/skinny. They're most likely going to be scared of you. A cat usually takes good care of it's fur, so it may not be raggedy, but if you've seen a brushed cat or brushed one yourself i'm sure you could tell the difference.
Lost/Curious Pet: It has a collar. It walks up to you in a friendly manner, it's clearly used to humans. It may not always follow you into your house, it could be coming over just out of curiosity.
Anyways, all pets need to go outside, apartment pets probably don't go outside a lot if their owners live higher up, so they may try and get out if they have the chance, however I had a cat a few years ago named Butterfinger, every time I came home from school I always looked up to my apartment window and I saw him waiting on the windowsill for me. :3
You see, I wouldn't really know all of that. I've never owned a cat before, because again, me and my mother, probably my brother too, are allergic. I would LOVE a cat and get to know how they work, but it's impossible with my mom around. I have seen a stray cat before when we went to visit my sister for her birthday or whatever. We were outside getting into the car and about to leave, and I saw a black cat with probably green eyes. It was a little far off but the moment it saw me coming it ran. That was probably my first time ever seeing a stray cat like that before. Aside from Jamacia. We went to a little resort and there were stray cats EVERYWHERE. A few of them I actually got to pet. Of course, my mom hated that since again, she's allergic. We had a few follow us around a bit but they would always back away when we got close. I really wanted to take one of them inside but I'm sure the hotel wasn't pet-friendly. It was a great experience though. I don't see many cats unless I go over to somebody's house.
