people are saying the Yanny/Laurel thing is like The Dress, but. It's not the same thing because the reasons people see/hear different things are not the same at all. Keep in mind I'm not a professional, I'm just a 10th grader who likes to study things, and I don't know if everything I'm saying is exactly correct, but the main reasons why they're different is still true (I think). Feel free to correct me if you see something wrong. The Dress illusion was caused by the surrounding light and probably the poor quality of the camera which made the dress look like a different color (like when someone's eyes seem to change colors based off the color of their clothes) to different people (I think some peoples' brains got over the trick and could see it as it was supposed to be, but even knowing that it's blue and black, I still see white and gold)

The sound thing is caused because Yanny is at a higher frequency, and Laurel is a lower frequency, so what you hear has nothing to do with your brain (i think) or the video (unlike the dress, where the color you see was completely dependent on your brain and the picture), but it has everything to do with things like the speaker you're listening to it from and the sounds around you. So, basically The Dress- the color you see is because of your brain and the colors in the picture/the lighting, not anything on your side of the screen The Yanny/Laurel thing- what you hear depends on your speaker and the surrounding sides, not anything to do with the video's side of the screen.
