Wren, bound and on her knees, glared upward at her once best friend.
"Yesss," she spat angrily, hissing.
"Because you took over the whole goddamned cccity!"

Her gaze darkened again slightly.

His legs were transparent, but his upper body was solid, the side of his shirt still soaked with blood, a bit dribbling from his mouth.
But he was there, the same, so close that if Jared turned they'd be nose-to-nose.

"Do you remember when you found me on that park bench? In the pouring rain, the first thing you said to me was 'Isn't it cold out here?'. Or when I asked you out, I stumbled over my words and said you were hot on accident?"

"And on our first date I won you your favorite cactus with the flowers at the arcade?"
He floated closer, running a hand along his cheek.
