Both are very cute but i am certainly a sucker for simplistic character design, so i really like the old one- not to say the new one is not cool too!... i love the scribble eyes on the old one, but your art style has such a nice way of drawing eyes on the new one. Honestly i would personally have the old character be an alternate form of the new one, because its very nice and i would keep both of them, but you should do whatever you feel is right!
