(For the first half of this, we will ignore the existence of hybrids and wrap around to it later.) "Spenci" can both refer to the subtype itself, Spenci, and used to refer to every other type of spenci casually. For example, a furci may also be called a spenci in casual conversation. Spencis (subtype) are considered the 'default', being not based on any real life creature or terrain in of themselves- only inspired by the creation of art itself. Spencis can have horns, tails, leg accessories and wings- but they are often based off of fictional creatures like angels and demons, if anything at all. Some spencis just have horns for the sake of having horns- same goes with tails and wings. A spenci is not held to any specific standard, as long as they do not fall into the one of the other categories.

Furcis are inspired by mammals- household pets, woodland creatures, fictional beasts, etc. Furci have digitigrade legs, fur, and animal-like extremities, and exhibit behaviors, diets and instincts that correlate with their inspired animal. Some furcis are based off of vague ideas (cat, dog, mouse) but some are more complex(munchkin cat, scottish terrier, jerboa).

Bugcis are inspired by (surprise) insects and insect-like creatures, like moths, spiders, etc. They often have knees that bend backwards as opposed to forward, antennae, and fragile insect extremities. Like Furcis, they can exhibit behaviors, diets and instincts that correlate with their inspired insect- as well as grouping together in the same way(For example, a group of bee bugcis may follow one 'queen') Also like furcis, they can be both based off of vague ideas and complex, specific ideas.

Shellcis are inspired by aquatic creatures, ocean life, and other water-dwelling creatures. They often live in cities completely submerged in water or on the ocean floor, and some may be inable to stay on land for prolonged periods of time. The same as furcis and bugcis apply, and they can share diets, behaviors and instincts with their inspired animals, which can be vague or complex/specific.

Hybrids can consist of any of the subtypes listed above, and often are inspired by the mixture of both ideas. For example, a bugci/furci hybrid may be a more furry bug, and a bugci/shellci hybrid could be a pond skater. A father and a mother who have different subtypes will produce a hybrid 75% of the time. 25% of the time, depending on the gender, the child will take on the entire subtype of their parent with the same gender (For example, a furci mother and bugci father may have a furci daughter, bugci son, or a hybrid child.) Hybrids who have children will only give their children one of the subtype genes- a bugci/spenci will only pass down either the bugci OR spenci gene to its children.
