Yes while Asperger’s is on the autism disorder spectrum it’s still quite different from the way autism is structured, lots of people confuse the two but think of it like this. Imagine autism and Asperger’s are cousins, two separate people but still related. They’re not close enough to be siblings so there’s a lot of differences between the two for example autism has trouble with certain textures and loud noises and different foods while Asperger’s has lost of trouble talking to people and understanding body language. While they both are related and under a spectrum being part of one side of it doesn’t mean you automatically are the same as the other side. If that makes more sense

It’s not derogatory but people still take offense to it. Usually autistic people who don’t have Asperger’s syndrome,because I guess they get mistaken for having it
