mean if the shiz is socially unacceptable then I'd just say that they shouldn't say something like that. Or if it's an interest then just say you aren't into it. If it's just them opening up you might have to bare it just for this conversation or just switch the conversation.
If you wanna help them then teaching is a part of that so this is good but keep in mind that helping (CERTAIN) people aren't for the faint of heart. Be careful man.
