I found a cave with my fren and.. also a deep dark. I got really over stimulated and started freaking out as he explained why we weren't going in and boom

Ok. So basically
The deep dark is kind of like a mineshaft or an end city in the way that it usually has a series of loot-bearing areas while simultaneously posing a challenge for the player. In a mineshaft, its challenge is getting lost or the mobs, but in the Deep Dark, it has its own enemy called the Warden. If you manage to summon this thing, you're practically writing your own death sentence. So yup. That's the Deep Dark in a nutshell.
