Let me start this off by saying: It is not my place to say whether or not you have depression. That's your head, your life, and not my business. I will type more in a moment.

Depression often comes with anxiety so some of these things might overlap or I might go off on one subject more than the other. This is hard for me not to do because I have attention deficit disorder. I would also like to add that I have been diagnosed with Major depressive disorder (with psychotic features. So if you have known me for a while, that's what the whole seeing and hearing things came from. There is also a possibility that it's actually schizophrenia.) and general anxiety disorder. I take these from my experience and from those around me who have been diagnosed as well. Depression isn't a joke, neither is anxiety. It actually hurts me to see people who say they are depressed when they really are just sad. Depression is NOT just sadness. Depression is only depression after it has lasted for atleast three weeks (in my case, it has been almost 4 years.) and it includes: Always feeling low Losing interest in daily activities Having no motivation to do anything you used to love to do ...

Having harmful thoughts about yourself (thoughts of self harm/suicide. Putting yourself down. A lot.) Wanting to disappear. Here are some of the worst things you can say to someone who has depression: Get over it Nobody cares There are people who have it much worse Shut up. I don't feel like writing anymore so oof Uhm basically be nice you never know what someone is going through, faking depression is a big no no, and having depression is not fun thanks bye

Exactly. Thank you for explaining this to people. I've seen lots of people, on this site especially, faking depression. I've had depression for about 2 years,(I've been professionally diagnosed), and I take meds. It irks me when others decide to fake something this serious. Depression is NOT a joke, and some people needed to read this. thank you Feather.

I get pissed when I see someone faking something like depression. Or being proud of it like yeah it's fine and good to be like "that's a thing I have going on" but not like "HELL YEAH LOOK AT ME I'M SO DEPRESSED LOVE ME PLS" But like I have been depressed for almost 4 years without medication so I have felt it full on (my therapist wants to help me get on medication so I don't kill myself due to depression and other mental issues I have.) People who fake depression give actually depressed people a bad name and dxfcghujigvfcvhjk it bothers me sm I also hate when people think they are entitled to something because they are depressed or fake depression to get something but like Depression doesn't make you deserve more than others. It is an obstacle you have to work around.

i hate to be repetitive, but, exactly. people shouldnt beg for attention like "lmao look at me im depressed XD LOL love me im always sad X3" but on the topic of your depression, I suggest listening to your therapist. I take paxil, and it helps a whole lot. i started taking my meds about,,, 8 months ago i think? it kinda,,, helps outta that cloud of,, u g h. And they do. They act like complete scum and blow depression way out of proportion. you have the right to be bothered by it, because its not right. And i agree wholeheartedly. People think because they're "different" that means that theyre special. Depression is just another wall we gotta make it over bro wheeze its fine venting is chill

well in the meantime, I suggest trying some cognitive behavioral therapy. It's meant to replace unhealthy thoughts with,, well,, healthier and nicer thoughts. It includes things such as acupuncture, meditation, and yoga.

My therapist has given me a worksheet for when I have bad thoughts about myself and it's been pretty helpful. Those are also good ideas, thanks! ^.^
