HI: Uh for shading , Try making a focal point on where the light is coming from [in this drawing ] it looks like the light is coming from behind the character, so when shading with this sort of light try and add variation and texture instead of just erasing around and around again with mid opacity - Another quick example: If the light is coming from the left - in this case your character is facing the left ] so the light will hit the characters eyelids, cheeks, hair, and ears but the shading will be kept to just back and to the right and be more saturated in the areas with less light influence -do you get what I’m saying ? :}

Shading is definitely weird, it really depends on the source of the light, Highlights when the light source is behind a character usually wraps around if that makes sense
