I would choose the bear if the choice is to get trapped w a man I don't know
If it's someone I know who is good, I would choose them just to not live in fear cuz I'm in the presence of a bear
Bears don't attack anyways, unless u seem like a threat to them or their cubs
I'm a dude but I'd choose the bear because atleast the bear isn't a 21 year old man who groomed a 13 year old me into sending him nudes
I'd also choose the bear because what if it's freddy fazbear my idol
For death:
If I (for context, 16 years old, cis afab, 5'1) walked into a forest and got mauled by a bear and died, it would have killed me for necessity - survival, food, protecting cubs.
If I walked into a forest and got killed by a man, it would be because that man had just decided he wanted to kill me on a random tuesday, for the fact he just selfishly wanted to take my life
For life:
If I make noises, shout, wave clothes around etc the bear would most likely just walk away, threatened, thinking I'm a predator
I could not intimidate a man with bad intentions away from me, who is secure in the knowledge he could easily overpower me
Also, I believe a man could do worse things than kill me. He could violate me, torture me, take away my dignity and with enough damage my fertility (which is important to me, I really want kids).
Something to keep in mind, obviously not every man is like that. I know a good few lovely men - but some men who I thought were good have done horrible things to me. I've had younger boys in highschool touch my ass thinking they deserved my body. I've had older boys when I was 11 cat call me. I've been followed around super markets, perved on online on innocent photos, I've been sa'd by someone I love
It's not all men but my safety comes over the butthurt feelings of immature guys who don't understand my fear

A lot of women say bear for obvious reasons, a lot of men got very confused and some even angry because of it. Obviously they'd say man because for a dude, a man is less intimidating than a bear as opposed to a woman
