LinkAlso he stole the tobacco from an evil wizard (Saruman) after destroying the wizards entire country with a bunch of trees.
This is all canon I swear but I'm pretty sure tolkien was also smoking some tobacco while writing that scene :eyes:

Merry's personality is so toned down during the movies-
like, he's one of the smartest hobbits. He knows all this old lore, maps, facts about different things and he's always travelling and stuff.
Pippin is pretty well set, being the comedic one, but at the same time he was such a great character.
There's literally an entire scene worth of Gandalf and Pippin on a horse, while Pippin asks numerous amounts of questions while they rode to Minas Tirith.
and it's not in the movies cri
yeah no that makes sense. They are seen as more of side characters, when really they aren't-
also, Sam is the main character, not Frodo. Frodo never shows his thoughts during the book, because the entire time it's Sam thinking.
This could be a result of Frodo being to traumatized to remember anything, so he has Sam put in his account. (the book is written in such a way that it seems Frodo wrote it, as the next part of Bilbo's tale).
they aren't at all!! exactly!!
if they kept Pippin and Merry as they were in the stories then I feel like the movies would've been a lot more cheerful and interesting!
yeah I noticed that!! I found that a bit interesting, tbh
I feel like that whole Sam putting in his account for him makes sense cuz Frodo never seemed the most
mentally strong
y'know?
seemed kinda soft and shy so I feel like he'd be traumatized by the whole ordeal
