i like them for different reasons arc 1 is more drawn out and is more focused on character interaction rather than big events (though there are those- smaller ones compared to arc 2 though), and has more antagonists. gianna's the main villain but she doesn't actually do anything major on camera and most of the conflict comes from characters like jackal, jest, salad, etc, and interpersonal relationships. arc 1 has characters together that i like the relationships of (ex, edmund and jesse, salad and leader) and tbh. arc 1 protags > arc 2 protags but arc 2 is more event based and while there is obviously character development it focuses less on it. and the story is a lot more fast paced. pretty much the only antag is the beast brigade as a whole with salad as a main villain (who is significantly more proactive then leader). the story events make me go awwwghhg and also. salad steals the entire show. im sorry its true AND GIANNA'S ARC???? ABT HER STRUGGLE W IDENTITY AND LEARNING ABOUT FORGIVENESS-

same for jackal i like his arc too??? still hate his character but arc 2. arc 2 jackal is good. and even though edmund is a ***** in early arc 2 and the transition period i still love his arcs and how he learns to detach the image of leader from gianna since she wasn't. entirely at fault or something (mostly she wasn't but you cant exactly blame her for the parts that are her fault as she was. still literally mentally poisoned) uhh etc etc I LIKE ARC 2 A LOT BUT ALSO ARC 1. is funny

arc 1 is funny. please tell me that jesse sneaking in a grilled cheese for salad in the dead of night and it becoming her favorite food isn't ****ing hilarious. that shit doesnt happen in arc 2 (at least not until like, late arc 2). ARC 1 PROTAGS ALL HAVE RLLY GOOD ARCS TOO!!!!!!!!!! andrea's struggles with her guilt and uhh mental illness over [event] and how she slowly cuts herself off from her friends and loved ones bc she doesnt think shes worthy of them? and then eventually later in arc 2 when she gets help and realizes how unhealthy that is and gets better and rekindles a friendship with the people,, who are still around. and how nigel struggles with trying 2 be heard and feeling like he's not enough and feeling really hopeless when it comes to trying to stop the beast brigade and how his friend and boyfriend distancing themselves from him. stresses him out more. and also edmund's whole thing with dealing with loss and grief and self worth as well (it's a cult, there's gonna be a lot of self worth issues, sorry) and how he feels like he can't take care of jesse because of his mental health and his past mistakes and then Jesse. Jesse.....

jesse struggling w watching both of their parent figures just kinda peace out and go through things they dont feel like they can even start 2 comprehend and not knowing how to help or what to do and they just kinda feel like theyre. stuck and they're not really sure how to get by without them helping since. admittedly. edmund and andrea are both Very overprotective, understandably so, but yknow the downside of that is now you're mentally ill with a child who doesnt know how to cope or even survive inside a literal cult by themselves without some kind of help from you that you're unable to provide. and bc you're distancing yourself from them their new friend is a dragon who kills people and has tried to kill you several times
