When I finally announce my name is not mine and i get so many comments like 'your name is so pretty' or 'it suits you so well' or 'but it is so unique' I understand you mean no harm but the harm it causes is unamountable it makes me feel as though i am not allowed to express my identity if you love the name then take it. take it for yourself or for your children but i am no longer that person my mother knew when she chose that name i am no longer the little girl with the purple crayon i am no longer a girl a daughter a sister i am me i am no longer that little girl
