LinkYou had just moved to a new town, it was so peacful and the people there were nice and welcoming!! tho you were curious about the signs throughout the town, saying to stay inside when dark. You were very curious and decided to ask a few people, and they said that a terible beast walked through the town at dark. You thought it was a joke, so you stayed after dark. it was very quiet so it must have been a lie. You went to the forest to get some mushrooms(or smth lmao). You had gotten lost, not remebering which way you came from. You panicked, trying to figure out how to come back. You heard footsteps, and got scared. But it was jake (yes you met him and became friends in this wwyd lmao) You sighed in relafe. Jake seemed scared and ran off, you chased him but he disappeared, soon being attacked by a large black wolf. You were terrifed but the wolf was shot by an arrow, and ran off. it was some people from the town, they walked back to the town and let you rest. Then in the morning, you went to see jake. wwyd?

Smaller than average, brown hair, amber eyes ig lmfao - she/they)
She eventually made it to what was assumed to be Jake's house, and a hand reached down to the doorknob. However, Kunala was hesitant for some moments, wondering if it would be considered barging in. In the end, she decided not to attempt to open the door, not sure if they were considered that close, and the brunette released her grasp on the knob. They knocked on the door instead, and they called out, "Hey, I just thought I'd come and check up on you. Last night was rather... Hectic." She then added, "I hope you're doing okay..!"

Kunala glanced up at the other, meeting his red orbs with soft amber ones. However, she then studied Jake's figure for any sign of a wound or injury from last night, and the first thing that caught her attention was the red stain on his shirt, and there was a whiff of something metallic. Their eyes slightly widened, and they immediately queried, "Is it really bad? Does it need medical attention?" Her tone was a mix of soft yet concerned, knowing she should try and be calm.
At his response, the brunette seemed skeptical, raising a left eyebrow as it's a small quirk of theirs. "It would ironic if you actually did," she murmured, but the chuckle seemed to have lighten her mood a little. Even the faintest smile or small chuckle would put them at ease, as anxiety can be a pain for them. "I can't force you to make decisions, but at least try and get some professional help if it gets worse, alright? This is coming from your friend." That is, if he considers them as one.
She caught the change of tone and expression, and her smile was quick to go away. "Uh-..." Kunala was quiet for some time. |*Damnit, I said something wrong, and my assumptions-*| "So sorry for assuming we're friends, if you don't see me as one- uh.." Kunala said, glancing down at their own feet for some moments. "Uh, acquaintances??? I don't know, but sorry if I got the wrong message- like, I just thought-" They stopped themselves from further rambling, and they internally cursed at themselves and their anxiety. "I can go if you want me to, and I'll respect and understand that."
Kunala gazed back at him when he spoke, listening to his response. And, as Jake explained, her expression morphed from anxious to sympathetic. “Oh, I’m sorry for your loss,” they replied. If close or trusted enough would they have given him a soft pat or hug. Right now, she had to refrain from doing that as it may make him uncomfortable. They can relate on losing someone significant in their life, despite how foggy past events are in their head. “Well yeah, I would like to be friends with you if you’d like,” they said with a genuine smile in return. It wouldn’t hurt making one..!
Kunala simply gave a small hum in agreement, and they were quiet for some moments. “Well,” she said, “Did you eat anything yet? Perhaps I can make you something to make up for your time!” She doesn’t think of herself as an excellent cook, but that’s just her negative mindset. It felt like they wasted Jake’s time showing up, being a bit of a burden. “If you don’t mind, of course!” They quickly added.
With a small nod in understanding, and she settled into the kitchen. As they familiarized themselves with the current environment they're in, they gave a quick glance at where Jake was. Pulling out some ingredients that looked familiar, they queried, focusing on their task, "May I ask you a question regarding the recent events?" By that, she was referring to last night.
The brunette laid out their findings on the counter. This will suffice... She'll make something light, as Jake had said that he wasn't that hungry. (Not sure what to do exactly for dish lmfao) Preparing one of the things, they said, "Why were you out there, despite the warnings from others?" They also wondered if the wolf that chased Jake was the beast people had warned of, but they didn't want to bombard the poor person with question after question.
Kunala listened, finishing up their “dish”- though it was actually more of a snack- and they a slight frown formed. “I see...” She murmured, bringing the food over to the coffee table. “I mean, again I can’t make you do anything- but I was really worried for you back there- still am. Try and be more careful next time...” A small “pff” then came from the demigirl. “At least to save me from the stress,” they added with slight amusement. |*Despite how I try to keep my calm...*|
They kind of expected some form of protest from the male, but this was not the case. Not like that was bad at all, and that earned a slight, perhaps triumphant, smile. “Alright, good,” Kunala said. “Anyways, do you think you’ll be okay by yourself here, or do you want me to stay for a little longer?” Rubbing the back of their neck, they added, “I just don’t want to be a bother here, that’s all, and you probably want to rest, I’m assuming.”
Surprise faintly lit her honey gaze, followed by hesitance. “You sure?” They questioned. “I mean, that would be nice, I just-“ They cut themselves off, a small embarrassed chuckle coming from them. “Well, if you’re really okay with it, though mind my social awkwardness. I haven’t really had a real conversation with someone in a while... People are scary,” The last bit, a half joke, was spoken in a mumble, and there was a sheepish smile.
Their eyes widened as the other ran out suddenly, and they turned to look at the direction he ran off to. Kunala opened the door and left the house, and she froze for a moment at the sound of a scream. Her friend- something was definitely wrong. Without thinking thoroughly, she continued to move, heading to where Jake must’ve went off to. “...Jake??” She called out for the other, looking around without straying too far from her route.
A normal person would’ve most likely screamed in this situation, but no screech left Kunala- she was stunned for some moments. But her heart rate was accelerating, and her body was shaking. They weren’t the fighting type, but they tried at least, attempting to kick or push the Wolf off though not quite effective. |*Is this the end??*| A voice formed in her head. If so... At least they made the most out of it? Not really, there were so many things she wanted to remember- things she wanted to discover. However, she may die without remembering what her amnesia had kept away from her.
She thought she was going to die earlier, no longer making an attempt to get away. However, to their surprise, the Wolf didn’t kill them. Instead, they got off of her..? Kunala slowly got up on her feet, and she backed away only by a few footsteps. They were still dazed by this, looking at the Wolf but not saying anything. Why didn’t they-..?
It was interesting, how the Wolf acted, and Kunala eventually calmed down, no longer shaking. However, to make the Wolf feel a little more comfortable, she didn’t approach them, simply remaining where she was. Maybe it’s because she’s not seen as a threat..? Faint curiosity was evident in their gaze, as she looked at the other with softness- not hate. What to say..? She was still speechless, but eventually did two words leave her mouth in a soft murmur. “Thank you..” But why thank the other? Perhaps for sparing them, it felt right to for some reason.
When it continued to back away, Kunala felt like they should just go and leave the Wolf alone. And so she slowly did, only to stop when she heard a pained howl from them. “You’re hurt, aren’t you..?” She questioned in a soft tone, not moving forward or backwards. It seemed painful, whatever that’s bothering the Wolf, as she slowly got down to make herself look less threatening.
Kunala didn’t run away, though it did hurt a little when their back hit the floor with a thud, along with feeing the canine’s claws. They flinched, but their honey orbs didn’t leave the wolf’s gaze. The Wolf is probably going to just kill her now, after she had given up her chance to flee. But a slight, yet pained, smile formed, and they murmured, “Moment of truth, huh... If you’re going to end me or not...” However, instead of kicking- that wasn’t effective- a hand slowly reached up, and they gently stroked its fur. “What will it be..?” As she questioned that, she searched the wolf’s gaze for any reaction.
Kunala wasn’t able to detect anything in the other’s gaze, for it had looked away. But they went still at the sight of a raised forepaw, and they flinched, a reaction of the body in response to the attack thats yet to come. Guess this is it. A Yelp came from them when they experienced a feeling of pain originating from their face, a stain of crimson hue that painted the once tan canvas. But the Wolf didn’t kill her, though they did earn a roar from the other... An eye opened, as the other couldn’t due to the blood, and they were able to make out the wolf’s retreating form. And then, silence... They remained there, frozen on the ground for some moments, before slowly getting up. She rubbed her face with a sleeve, getting rid of some of the blood, though more still oozed in red beads. What... What a mystery. She remained there for a little longer processing things, before deciding to head back, turning around and walking off, thoughts clouding her once clear mind.
tbh i like ppl who rp like that, its intresting to read lmao- also its ok))
The wolf looked back, watching her walk away. It shook its head, letting out another pained howl. The wolf fell over, a human form took its place. it was jake- (obviously lmao XD) He held his head and got up. He coughed, shaking. He remebered what he didnt to his friend then ran back to his house
Kunala had went there since it was the closest place from the forest... And they did come from there technically. But she’ll patch herself up and perhaps leave to think things through, not wanting to burden Jake- the fact he’s a Wolf unknown to her at the moment. The brunette murmured, “Sorry, Jake, I’ll make up for the resources I’m using...” By resources, they meant medication, as they searched for something for the scratches and cuts. |*I’ll definitely restock on them, so he doesn’t get mad.*|
Once treated, they glanced at themselves in the mirror. A scar on her face, just like- Kunala froze for some moments, as the image of a ginger-haired person formed in their mind. A memory she’s trying to remember... But it went away. “It’s probably nothing I guess...” Kunala murmured, and she left the bathroom after tidying herself.
XD lmao!)
Her eyes went wide at the sudden entrance, gaze settling on the fallen form of Jake. “Oh my goodness-“ That was a sight to see, and they were about to go over to help him up. However, when Jake got up on his own, it didn’t seem like he needed help getting up. At his question, she blinked several times. “Well, yeah, I’m alright, don’t worry,” they responded. The cuts didn’t sting as much anymore. “I had to use some of your medicine, sorry- But are YOU okay?!?! You just ran out of here without a word, and I was really worried!” After that last string of words, Kunala went quiet for some moments, a new emotion forming in her honey orbs as if something seemed to be up. Is.. She chose not to question it. If Jake had something to share, that’ll be up to him. But for now, it was just a hunch, and the emotion went away. “Anyways, are you!?” They queried, studying the other’s form if there were any new wounds or injuries.
Kunala was about to ask if the other was sure with what he said, when they felt arms wrapping around them in a hug. She didn’t quite expect the sudden embrace, but she took it in, hugging Jake back. They could feel the other trembling in their gentle grasp, but they didn’t point that out. However, while in a hug, she soothingly rubbed the other’s back. “Don’t worry, I’m okay,” she said softly. “And you’re okay... So *we’re* okay.”
Fiejcj please the transition lmao)
Kunala felt their striped sweater dampen due to tears, and sympathy lit their gaze. “Your fault- what..?” She questioned, still not breaking the hug. “What do you mean..? You shouldn’t blame yourself over this, Jake. This isn’t your fault, don’t worry.” I Honestly, she was relieved he’s okay, not mad at anyone or anything. “I went into the forest and accidentally provoked the Wolf, so that was kind of my fault,” she explained. “It was hurt, and I wanted to help... Wondering how it’s doing now though- if the Wolf is okay.”
Kunala was able to detect that when Jake broke the hug, looking rather confused. “Is there something wrong..?” They questioned in a concerned tone, as there seemed to be something the other was hiding from them. She pointed an index finger at his covered mouth. “Well, if you want to show me,” she added, not wanting to pressure Jake.
The brunette’s gaze softened, feeling sad for the other. They kneeled down to meet Jake’s level, and they slowly reached over to let their hands rest by the sides of his upper arms. “Hey,” she spoke softly, expressing her gentle nature. “You’ve been a good friend, I wouldn’t ever hate you.” Kunala then added, “And I wouldn’t kill you either. I bet you’re a good person with a good heart, and nothing would ever change that.” They were an understanding individual, open-minded as well, for someone who has experienced many things despite how blurry they were in their head. “But if you don’t want to tell me, I’m not going to force it out of you. I trust you enough to tell me on your own time, or when you’re ready, and you can trust me.My thoughts about you aren’t going to change negatively.”
(Sorry bad wifi at school sob)
His words earned a soft chuckle from Kunala. “Did you think I was going to be bad?” She said, but her tone was light hearted and not serious. “I’m so hurt, haha- Just kidding. But I’m your friend, and friends help each other out, and support each other..!” At those words, a genuine smile formed on their face.
Kunala listened closely, reading the other’s red gaze. And as he spoke of his “friend,” she could detect the hurt. The betrayal as well. The clenching of his hands also conveyed his feelings, and her frown deepened. “I am, so, so sorry to hear that,” they said with sympathy. “You don’t deserve such a horrible excuse for a friend... At least she’s not around to do you any more harm.” After some moments, the brunette added, “You deserve better friends. Better people out there. She may have been a bad friend, but know that everyone is different, so not everyone in this world is horrible.” With a slight smile, Kunala then said, “I myself would never use my friends, and you can trust me. Well, if you give it some time, perhaps you can.”
“I understand that you don’t fully trust me,” Kunala replied. “So it would take some time. But you seem like a good friend as well..!” She returned the smile with a soft one of their own.
“Well, anyways, i think we should get a little tidied up.” With a chuckle, they then added, “I’m covered in blood and dirt.”
Since she was in a kneeling position, the brunette stood up. "Yeah, we should," they agreed, taking a quick glance out of the window, noting how the sky was darkening in hue, before meeting eye contact with Jake again. "You don't mind if I sleep here for the night, or should I sleep back at my place?" She queried, not wanting to make the other uncomfortable. If Jake allowed, though, perhaps she can sleep on the couch?
Hello! And I gotcha ^^)
Kunala, who still heard a bit of a tremor in the other's voice, frowned slightly with concern. They're not that dense, noticing the frequent glances to the window, as if bothered by the fact night is coming. "What's wrong?" they questioned, following his gaze to the window for some moments before looking back at Jake. "Is it something to do with the night in some way..?"
Welcome back!)
Kunala wasn’t convinced that ‘nothing’s wrong,’ though he was out the house before she could really say anything. After some moments of silence that followed, they murmured, “Alright then.” |*Hopefully, he’ll be alright...*| They thought, still rather worried for their friend.
She went to the bathroom to change into more comfortable clothes that she brought along, and the brunette went to get settled on the couch. However, they still felt a little anxious, as their amber eyes were fixed on the night sky outside from the window.
I've been doing alright! ^^ Hbu?)
Kunala remained there, on the couch, and she tried to close her eyes to sleep. However, the anxious feeling lingered, so it wasn't long until they reopened their eyes. |*How long has it been..?*| The amber-eyed individual thought to themselves, getting to a sitting position. Something was still troubling Jake... |*It's not my business, but I'm still concerned..*| She got up and went over to the front door. Her fingers lightly grazed the doorknob, looking hesitant. Should they look for him..? Or would that just be nosy and get him upset for poking into his personal things?
I'm really sorry to hear that :[ Lmk if you wish to talk about it- and I hope things get better for you soon)
Her heart must've stopped beating for a moment, as her eyes went wide. Indeed did they hear the noise, and that drove her to make the decision to investigate. The brunette opened the door and put on some shoes, before running off to where the noise probably came from. Kunala was more of a sprinter than a runner, as their legs began to ache. But the feeling was pushed to the side, and she looked around. They were cautious, occasionally looking behind their shoulder in case of approaching danger from the back.
Kunala eventually heard the sounds, which sent a shudder throughout the brunette. However, she continued to move that way and it got louder. And there, up ahead, was the bloodied remains of what seemed to be a person- a small one. The blood was so strong that an animal’s sense of smell won’t be needed to detect it, as the metallic stench hung in the air. And the one who was eating the body was none other than the Wolf itself- the same one they had encountered recently.
At the sight was she trembling a little, her mind struggling to process the current events. They should move- maybe say something. However, not only did fear keep her frozen to the ground, but its invisible hands covered her mouth, and she couldn’t quite say anything. They were just stunned, apart from the tremor in their legs.
The brunette made a reaction when the Wolf approached her, instinctively taking one or two steps back. They tried to understand what was going on, mind whirling with thoughts. |*This- This is just a part of nature, animals need to eat after all...*| Right? There’s nothing wrong about it..? They had to say something about it- they can’t just stay quiet. “Why... W-Why did you do it..?” She spoke, a tremor in her voice like the unsteadiness of her posture. A stupid question, but it just got blurted out- They had to say something anyways.
For a moment she thought the Wolf would attack her. Not like they’d get far if they tried to flee, which they didn’t. However, it simply sniffed her and wagged its tail, which wasn’t expected. That did calm them down a little, and they took a few breaths. “So you recognize me from our last encounter...” She murmured, trying to divert her amber gaze away from the lifeless body. Moments later, a deepened frown reformed. “But what are you doing here? Why.. This?” Kunala questioned, trying to make sense of things. “We’re you hungry? Was it some urge..?”
Her gaze softened, and she slowly reached out to gently stroke its fur, ignoring how it stained her hand crimson. “Hey hey, I’m not mad, I just wanted to understand,” They murmured. “I was just shocked…” Maybe the wolf regretted its actions… And feeling regret is part of being humane at least. “Is it a part of your nature? Something you can’t control..?” They then asked.
Taking the nod for a 'yes,' she murmured, "I see..." It probably wasn't the first time for her, witnessing someone get killed. That's a memory yet to be fully unraveled, though. But Kunala would try to understand things, try and put things together. It was just a part of who they were. "It's okay, you probably didn't mean it," they said softly, not wanting to stress it out, as that wouldn't be good. "If it's part of your nature, I can't change it. But I won't deem you as some heartless killer or monster." It would be cruel, despite what just happened..
It looked up at her and nudged her gently as it smiled softly. The wolf let out a yelp as it was shot by a silver arrow. the arrow seemed to burn within the wound. The wolf pulled the arrow out looking at a large mob with weapons made of silver, and lit tourches. The wold stood in front of Kunala, roaring at the other humans, tho still slowly bleeding from the wound
oh wow the first paragraph that i made out of this entire rp lmao))
She returned the smile with one of her own, though it was quick to vanish at the sound of a yelp from the wolf. Kunala immediately looked over to see where the arrow came from, amber eyes settling on a mob of armed individuals, catching the glint of silver. No longer was it safe for the other, knowing it'd get hurt if it stays here. Yet the wolf stood in front of the brunette as if trying to protect her, and she glanced up at it. "It's not safe for you here," she said, "I'll be fine, but you need to go!! You're wounded!" It mustn't be killed by these- these people. Kunala stepped out to let herself be seen, and she called out, "Leave it alone!! It didn't mean for any of this!!!" After that, they gave a pleading glance at the wolf, wanting it to go and flee to safety.
The wolf refused and charged at the mob, easily killing mutiple people but getting shot and stabbed multiple times. It roared as it killed half the people from the mob, they ran back to the homes, knowing they would all be killed if they stayed. The wolf stood in place as the humans ran back inside. The wolf wounded, many arrows and stab wounds, mounds of blood leaking from its body
nice))
Everything just happened in a blur, with the sounds of screaming and yelling, joined with the roaring. They struggled to grasp at what was going on, and the wolf was already in action before they can make an attempt to stop this. It looked familiar, didn't it? Except... There wasn't so many people back... *then.* Images flashed in her head, disconnecting her from reality for some moments. The glimpse of ginger hair, the laughter of a dark-toned girl, the dead body of a petite girl. The smell of blood, the spilling of their own tears on cold skin. |*No-no, I don't want to remember that!*| Kunala took some deep breaths, trying to refocus. It was too unpleasant- And it's not the time.
However, by the time, she got a grasp on reality again, what she saw were the dead bodies of people, the blood scent so strong and pungent that it was hard to push aside. But what caught their attention the most was the wolf, now wounded. Kunala didn't hesitate to run over to its side. No- Not now! "H-Hey!!"
She checked the wounds, trying to take some more deep breaths. "There's got to be a way I can help- You're not going to die," she spoke, struggling to keep calm in this serious situation. Out of desperation, they pushed their hands against one wound to try and stop the blood flow, but it was futile.
The brunette tried to calm down, knowing that doing so would help her find the best solution to this problem. But it was hard, as they found their own hands tremble while reaching out to remove the arrows. She tore off bits of cloth from the clothing of the deceased to help stop some of the bleeding, before checking its pulse and breathing. “Is there any way I can actually help..?” They asked, both to themselves and the Wolf. “I can’t let you die like this...”
hh))
The wolf opened its eyes to look at her and weakly pulled her close as if hugging her. It stuck its nose into her hair, slowly breathing as the bleeding began to stop. It licked her head, blood still stained its muzzle. It laid its head back down as it looked up at the sky. soon, as hours passed the sun had gone up
She didn't pull away when the other pulled her into a 'hug,' gently stroking the wolf's fur as it did before. They then tried to feel for some sort of pulse underneath their hand, and to their relief, it didn't seem to slow to a stop. |*Maybe it'll be okay..*| Kunala thought, feeling hopeful, as they remained in the wolf's embrace. Eventually was she too tired to keep her eyes open, so they closed, resting like that for a while.
When the sun came up, their eyes slowly reopened due to the bright light they were met with, and they lifted their head to look at the wolf. Kunala looked at its wounds again, and she rechecked its pulse. |*Please let it be true that it was able to survive that heck of a night..*| They internally pleaded.
Kunala watched as the wolf changed into a human, which happened to be- Jake?! Well, it wasn't entirely shocking, as they had a hunch something was up. With that, a look of surprise flickered in their honey orbs for only some seconds, before their gaze softened again. She's not mad at all. Besides, so much happened, and he must be exhausted. For a moment were they about to wake him up, but they didn't. |*I'll just let him wake up on his own time, and perhaps he can explain everything.*| Kunala thought to themselves, remaining there and gazing up at the sky.
Kunala looked down when he stirred, and they moved back just a little so he could sit up. "Easy," she said, noting how much pain he seemed be in judging by the nonverbal signs. "You've been through a lot, I bet it hurts a heck ton." They were about to reach over to rest a hand on his shoulder, but they refrained from that, not wanting to touch a wounded spot and hurt him.
I'm- well, welcome back again xD)
They assisted the other, steadying him by lending some support as they got up as well. "Mhm, sure," she said after hearing a grunt from the male. If Jake wasn't hurt would they have given a playful punch. "You idiot, you didn't have to be the hero and protect me," Kunala said, but their tone was light-hearted and free of seriousness.
What a coincidence pfff)
Kunala listened as he spoke, and her gaze softened with warmth. "Yeah, but you really made me, and I still am, worried about you," they said. "You could've gotten yourself killed." After some moments, she added with a smile, "But what's done is done, and that was nice of you."
"Anyways, I think we should head back now, and you should get some rest," Kunala then said, knowing how weak Jake must be right now.
That earned an eye roll from Kunala, though she seemed slightly amused. They did not at all seem convinced when the other said that he was fine, and they then said, "No, we're going back. Or else I'll..." She never finished her 'threat,' not even sure what to say to make him go. But moments after, they gave him a pleading glance. "Please..?" She said.
Kunala followed, entering the house. They were again stained in blood, though it wasn't theirs this time. However, she was way more worried about other things, as this was nothing compared to what was happening now. Notiicng how the other still trembled, she questioned, "Is there any way I can help, or would you like me to leave you alone?" Everyone's different, after all. Some would like to seek comfort from others, while others would like time alone.
Kunala nodded in understanding, and the brunette went over to settle themselves besides Jake, though they moved over a little to let him lay down. “I’ll stay then,” she murmured softly. “You should get some rest. I won’t leave you, don’t worry.” Concern remained in their honey gaze as it lingered on Jake’s form for some moments, before glancing away, as it’d be rude staring. And there they remained by his side, to at least be here for their friend.
Kunala eventually glanced over to see how he was doing, and it seemed like he was sleeping at the moment, with the gradual rise and fall of his chest. The brunette let out a slow sigh, perhaps out of relief. However, they took some moments to study Jake’s wounds. We’re they able to fully heal, or would some medical attention still be needed..? |*Wouldn’t be good if it got infected...*| Kunala thought to herself. Funny how she’s actually been able to feel deep concern and sympathy for the other... It’s been a while since friends had been made...
Kunala panicked internally a little, noting the signs. The coughing hasn’t stopped, and Jake still seemed to be in pain... Obvious, they knew, but something had to be done...But what? They left his side briefly to get a glass of water, returning to place it down somewhere near him. “Do I even know what I’m doing..?” Kunala murmured to herself, then going to the cabinets to look for some kind of medication. Maybe something to soothe the pain? In the end, they fetched some ointment and pills and went back to Jake, trying to think of the best treatment. This was just them listening to their gut- medications and water.
(Help what should I/they do lmao-)
After setting down her findings, she just sat down, feeling a little anxious. It didn’t seem like Jake was getting better, noticing the blood on the side of his mouth. However, they didn’t want to risk doing anything that would make the male’s condition worse. With that, Kunala had to simply hope for the best, her gaze not leaving him.
The unpleasant feeling within Kunala grew just by this sight. The concern, anxiety, then joined by frustration of the fact they can't do much about it. "Please get better soon..." Kunala murmured, refraining from giving a comforting gesture that may hurt him instead. He just felt so vulnerable and fragile, that they were afraid of harming Jake, even if it was unintentional. But she remained there, not going as Jake didn't want her to leave. |*Just be here for him...*| "I'm here for you... You'll be okay," Kunala then murmured, also to convince herself things will soon be alright.
When it seemed like the other has eased a little, Kunala felt some sense of relief, a little sigh leaving them at that. Seeing that the other shifted his position so he was facing away from Kunala, the brunette glanced away since things were getting better. However, she swore she heard something from him... Though it was too quiet to hear. |*Sleep talking perhaps?*| She thought to herself, a little curious.
It'd be impossible to ignore Jake, with both their curiosity and the fact they were able to hear what the other said. "Emily.." Kunala repeated to herself in a murmur. The name may not be familiar to them, but this person is more likely to be someone Jake knows- Or knew. But something was troubling him regarding this person and events she doesn't know of. However, his mumbles had received her attention again, as she glanced back down at the male's form.
A deepened frown formed at the next string of words, as she took a few moments to try and understand things based on context and clues. Loss? Well, loss of a loved one? It would be considered an educated guess, though. |*Emily...*| Her eyes widened slightly when he jolted up, and the first thing she did was gently place a hand on his shoulder as a way of comfort. "Hey hey, I'm here. It's okay.. It must've been a nightmare..." She murmured softly moments after, before withdrawing her hand. |*He may not have liked that, actually.*| Taking a quick glance at the glass on the table, she said, "There's water if you need to drink something. Not sure if it'll help or not."
"Try and take things easy," she said, seeing how the other still seemed to be in a weak condition. "The recent events must've taken a toll on your body." Moments after, they added, "I'm not sure how to be of help, but I think rest would be good." It wouldn't be smart if he were to overwork himself, as that would lead to consequences.
At the other's stubbornness, it earned a little sigh from them. Of course, it's not like she can make him listen. "If you insist," she said, though still worried for the other. "But," she added, thinking off how to lead onto a new topic. "Mind if I ask a question regarding... Your nightmare? Or is that too personal to ask?" Kunala would respect the male's choice- She was trying to think of what else for herself to say.
With a slight nod, she glanced down at her own hands. "That person..." Kunala murmured, though loud enough to be heard. She was referring to the said person in dream. "They seemed special..." Hearing about this 'Emily,' made her try and think about a loved one of her own past. Well, she could only memorize glimpses, but the name? Not quite.. "Who were they to you..?"
Kunala listened to the other talk, but his words will filled with so much... Emotion. That earned their attention, as they looked over to see tear-stained cheeks. Grief..? As predicted, Emily was a loved one. But not in the sense of a family member or friend, but a lover. Kunala felt a sense of sympathy, feeling sad for the other. "I'm so sorry for your loss..." Kunala murmured with sorrow. "While I cannot relate on losing a lover, I have felt the feeling of loss before." Loss of memories, loss of those who were important in her past, and such... "I'm sure you didn't mean to kill her. I understand that some things are just... Beyond control, sadly."
Moments after, they said, "She must have been a great person. I wonder if there were at least any good or fond memories you had with Emily."
Kunala tried to keep calm, as they thought of ways to help in this situation. This was new to handle, but some effort should be made. However, he was hurting himself... |*What should I do..?*| “Hey...” The brunette placed a hand on his shoulder. “Love can be very complex, and it can be hard to hate someone you love- Or loved. But you’re a great person, and she never should’ve treated you that way, whether you believe it or not.” |*He’s doing that, probably because of the thoughts regarding Emily.*| She should try and be understanding, and not say the wrong things... “She’s not around to use you and abuse you anymore. One day, you’ll find a better person who cares for you as they should... And I don’t know how to be of much help, but I’m not going to leave your side, as your friend. I’m here for you.”
Ur alive))
He just continued to scratch himself. His face darkened as he looked at Kunala then looked away “sometimes…I wish….my life wasn’t so hard….that….everyone…listened to me….but no ever did….and everyone hated me for being a werewolf….but you….” He looked back at her “why don’t you hate me…for being a monster…”
Well, somewhat xD) Honestly been on and off bc I have people at my house for some days)
At his first string of words, the brunette's frown deepened with sympathy. Even if they remembered specifically what they went through in the past, it must be nothing compared to what Jake had to endure and is currently enduring. Her honey gaze settled on the hand Jake was scratching himself with, and her hand that once settled on his shoulder went down to reach for the male's. They didn't forcefully pull it away, but the brunette instead caressed it to try and calm him down, a bit of the blood getting on them. Not like they minded anyway. "Well," she started, "First of all, you're not a monster. I don't like that term- it's rather cruel to consider yourself as one." Moments after Kunala spoke again. "But I don't hate you, because there's more to you than just some 'monster' people label you as. You're misunderstood, Jake. People don't try and figure you out. I want to try and understand you, and I want to help you."
"You're not a monster," Kunala added. "You feel regret, and that's a humane emotion. When I encountered you in your wolf form, I sensed that. You deserve to be and feel loved, Jake. Even if you feel like you don't deserve it, you do." She then spoke in a soft murmur, "You know, even the darkest night can possess bright, luminous stars..."
Kunala noticed the smile, which caused them to give a small one of their own. Being able to comfort and support Jake, it made her feel a little... Happy? It was a warm, fuzzy feeling she was experiencing. The brunette didn't stop him from crying, as it would be best to let the emotions out- not bottle them up. "...Do you want a hug?" She questioned with a soft tone.
At his 'thanks' Kunala said, "You're welcome..!" They then listened to what else Jake had to say, and the brunette's smile grew a little. "So I guess this makes me the first person you've opened up to," they said. It's a start. She then added, "Thank you for trusting me with this stuff, then. It must've been really hard keeping it all to yourself. But I'm here if you need to talk to someone and get some support."
The brunette followed his gaze to the window, noticing how the sun was gradually setting to prepare for its slumber. As it did, orange hues joined the blue canvas, and the sun's dying light faintly lit the outline of a few clouds. After giving the scene a moment's glance, Kunala looked back at the sound of a yawn to see that Jake was starting to look sleepy. With a small chuckle, they then said, "Looks like we should get some sleep. You look like you can sleep right here, on the couch, and pass out within seconds."
Back for a bit ^^)
For a moment they thought they had to go sleep somewhere else, doubting Jake would be comfortable with the two sleeping on the couch together. |*The floor might make my back ache, but it's just for once.*| However, Kunala was wrong to assume that when she heard Jake's 'request.' Looking back down at the male, that earned a small giggle from Kunala. "Oh, if you say so," she said, before going over to snuggle with the other, letting his arms envelop her form. Taking some moments to settle in, they murmured with amusement in their voice, "You better not let me fall."
Kunala seemed a little amused still, but they murmured softly, “Good night, Jake.” However, it seemed like Jake had fallen asleep already, as she didn’t get a response, and she held back a chuckle. “Guess you’re already out, as expected,” they mumbled, quieter this time, before closing their eyes. |*Good night still.*| And like that, she eventually fell asleep, content at the moment.
-
Eventually did they stir, half awake. She still had her eyes closed, but she was conscious of things grasped at by her other senses. And- was that fur under their fingers tips? Kunala opened one eye, and she looked up to see that a Wolf had taken his place. No- it was Jake’s Wolf form. At that, a little smile formed. Because the Wolf is still him, the same person who protected them. The same person who confided in her. Smile remaining, Kunala gently stroked the other’s fur. |*He’s so soft!*|
Kunala giggled when the Wolf licked them, and she said, “Well, hello there.” They cuddled Jake back, burying their head into his fur before looking back up at him. “Why are you so fluffy and warm,” she questioned, looking rather amused yet happy as well. “And so, sooo soft...”
Jdekcje it would be a wholesome scene to draw lol- I don’t have a human form of Kunala drawn unfortunately but feel free to imagine how they’d look ^^)
With that, sleep overcame them, still enveloped in the wolf’s warm embrace. Eventually, as time passed, the moon swapped roles with the sun once again, as it dipped back down. The sun made a slow journey back to the sky, illuminating it with its natural light.
Kunala stirred again, shifting a bit in movement but she still was cuddling the other. Again, she was half awake, but what brought her to partial consciousness was the ray of light from the sun. Morning!
Kunala eventually opened her eyes, and she noticed that Jake was still in his Wolf form. The brunette was a little surprised by this, as they assumed that he switches to his Wolf form during the night only. However, her gaze softened a little, and she simply looked up at the Wolf, not daring to wake him up. However, they murmured softly, “...Good morning.”
Kunala’s smile grew, and she spoke softly, “Oh, you’re up..! I hope I didn’t disturb you.” Jake probably can’t talk while in Wolf form, but they spoke to him nonetheless. “I’m surprised you’re still a Wolf, to be honest,” They added, slightly tilting their head to one side. “I thought you only become a Wolf during the night.” She lightly booped his nose with an index finger. “Fluffy, big Wolf...” She murmured, half to herself.

When the other shook his head, she took it as a response that she didn’t hurt him. A small relieved sigh came from Kunala at that, and they bent down to pet him. “Let me know if you don’t want me to stop or don’t like it,” she murmured, before stroking his fur, and occasionally would her fingers go up to scratch at the spot behind his ears. Some dogs like that, though she wasn’t sure how he’d react. “Still tired?” They questioned, as they still petted him.
They're so precious ahah- 🥺🤧)
That earned a soft chuckle from Kunala, but she continued to pet Jake. "So you like pets, huh," she murmured with a smile. "A little surprised, to be honest, but if it makes you happy."
Moments after, Kunala added, "I'd kiss you on the forehead like how some would give their dogs a kiss. But that would be weird for you." There was a giggle after they said that. "Sorry for blurting that out... I have to remember that you're Jake- but gosh, you're so adorable.." The last words were said in a murmur, though loud enough to be heard. "Sorry, I'll stop being weird. I mustn't make you uncomfortable like that."
She blinked several times, not completely expecting that. "Yah, did you just give me a dog- well, wolf kiss?" Kunala said, sounding amused. However, the fact that this wolf was Jake was what earned a slight blush. Before they could do one back as 'revenge,' Jake had looked away. "Hey, that's not fair," they said, though they spoke with a light-hearted tone. And that 'angry' act of theirs quickly vanished, as a chuckle came from the brunette. "Okay, fine, I see how it is."
I died big time- also, you're killing me with curiosity bc I cant see the emoji 😭🤧)
She shifted back a little to give him room to change forms. |*So he can switch willingly..?*| Kunala didn't know, honestly, but that's not important as of now. But a human Jake took the wolf's place, and- Is he blushing? However, the male seemed to be looking away from them. Pretending to be oblivious to it, though, she questioned, "Hm.? Are you hiding something from me..? Did I say something wrong?" But then again, she had a pink tint on her cheeks herself, as Jake wasn't the only one who's flushed.
Late gm ASLDKFJ)
She didn't think a person like him would act this way, but it somewhat amused the brunette a little. Deciding to tease the other a little, despite starting to have a small feeling they *might* know, Kunala said, "What's wrong..? When did you get so shy of me?" As they waited for a response, Kunala bent over a little, as if they were trying to see his face.
Doing alright, though I’m dying in the heat lmao)
Hbu? ^^)
Because she had bent down to try and peek at his face, they were rather close to each other when he turned to look at Kunala. That was when they noticed how flushed the male was, and their eyes widened. Heat began to rise up to her cheeks, and they leaned back to give some space. “Ah- uh, I see-“ They stammered, as thoughts and possibilities stormed in their mind. “I see- Sorry if I- yeah.” She awkwardly glanced to the side and rubbed the back of her neck, clearly flushed as well. |*What just happened?*|
(ah, I see )
Kunala awkwardly sat there on the couch, amber eyes occasionally glancing back at Jake before diverting her gaze away again. It was a little funny, how the mood could change within moments. However, they should've stay like this forever. "So, uh.." Kunala cleared their throat. "Anything you, like, feel like doing today?" |*Me and my stupid awkwardness.*| However, it seemed like they were trying, as the failed attempted resulted in redder cheeks from the brunette.
Not sure how long, but yes xd )
"Ah, alright..!!" The brunette stood up as well, refraining from fidgeting with their fingers. They looked outside for some moments, thinking about what to say next. "Also..." She started. |*Bring it up, damnit. Don't just disregard is like that.*| However, she couldn't say it. "Uhhhh- Thank you for everything," they said instead, giving a small hug. It may not seem like 'everything,' but considering the times they spent together, the moment when he protected her, letting her stay here for some time, and other things... It adds up. Moments after did they let go, lightly blush remaining, and they said, "Okay, let's go outside now!"
After putting on some shoes, Kunala followed the male outside, the sunlight making their hair look golden. A grin was plastered on her face, and she went ahead of Jake by some steps, before returning to his side. "Two people outside, what shall they do..." They murmured partially to themselves, amber eyes squinting with evident joy.
Kunala took some moments to think. "Maybe explore for a bit, see what there is for us. Not sure..." The brunette then glanced up to look at Jake when they heard him mumbling, noticing that he was blushing. "You're doing it again," Kunala then said. "Seems like there's something on your mind." At that, curiosity seeped into her honey gaze, as she seemed to be trying to study the other to find out what's up. There was only a growing hunch, but she doesn't have the guts to say it.
Seeing how the other reacted, blushing more as a response, Kunala held back a giggle. They were highly doubtful when Jake said he wasn’t hiding anything, but they decided not to prod into it more. “Yeah, suuuure,” they said, dragging on the last word, before looking back up ahead. “Hm, what do you think we should do? Explore? Play? I’m fine with anything!” She was already happy just by being with the male. “There’s a lot of things we can do out here..!”
The brunette listened to Jake as he listed activities they could do, and she looked confused at the last one said. “What do you mean by kill a ‘werewolf’?” They questioned, eyes narrowing a bit with thought. “Is it just, like, playing around or...” With wide, horrified eyes, they said, “...Literally killing one?” Yes, she may be dense about some things...
lol it’s fine! ^^ also was taking an exam, soz)
I have to take 4: History, Math, Spanish, Health
I’ve taken 3 (including today) and last one will be Health tomorrow morning, and then I’m done! :] )
“...Oh, alright..!” She said, as light was quick to restore her amber orbs. They rubbed the back of their neck for some moments, slightly embarrassed of their silly assumption. “Silly, me,” Kunala said with a sheepish smile. “Hm, how do we play it though? I want to give it a try.”
I think it can be a little fun since I felt a little more free in a way. I get to bring my phone and around and text people in some classes (depending on teacher) and use my phone during lunch!
But that could be just my school, so I’m not sure how it’d work for yours 🤔
I was hella scared as you, though at least you wont start 9th grade virtual and then go smack dab in person in 10th 😓)
“Ah, really?” At his words, their smile grew. “Thank you. I’m too shy to ask people to teach me,” the brunette added with a small chuckle. “But I’m going to give this dagger a go first! And then I’ll switch to improve on my archery skills.”
Taking the weapon she had chosen(?), she adjusted it a little so it was more comfortable handling it. Kunala tried to get into some stance, though it looked ridiculous- perhaps amusing as well. An attempt was made, at least? “Uh, okay, now what?” They then asked.
lmao *teleportation/portal noise insert*)
They glanced at the cardboard, and the sight of the drawing made them struggle holding back a chuckle. |*I'm not artistic myself, so I shouldn't laugh, but-*| "Interesting werewolf I'm put up against," Kunala said, amusement heavy in her tone and gaze, but she chose not to say more about the depicted werewolf to spare Jake from further embarrassment.
|*That's it though? Maybe there's some kind of catch..*| However, the brunette decided to go after this 'werewolf,' still feeling rather bubbly to be spending time with the other. Kunala took it seriously, sprinting forward and doing a small leap, and the dagger struck the ferocious animal as she landed. Well, in reality, it was just her running and wood hitting cardboard, but there's no harm in pretending! "Like that?" She questioned, turning to look at the other.
Kunala’s eyes widened a little when the male suggested practicing on a real werewolf. Honestly, they were a little mixed on that idea. And would Jake be fine with that, since he’s a werewolf himself? “Hmm, we can try that,” she replied. At his next string of words, the brunette gazed down at the wooden weapons. “Ah, alright then..!” It made sense, and Kunala remembered the time when Jake fought off the town people. “To be honest, I’m a little scared. What if I mess up?” It’s a possibility.
Before they could protest or say anything back, Kunala felt themselves get dragged into the woods. "Yah!" She said, matching the male's pace- or trying to so she doesn't fall to the earth. "If anything happens to me, I will- I'll do something about it!" However, Kunala was smiling with their honey eyes, and they failed holding back a smile.
omg yes vry wholesome lmao)
Acting wasn't quite their strong suit, to be honest. Usually, her words end up with a flat tone, or a pose that's so stiff or awkward. However, they tried to put in an effort, trying to look frightened of the 'dangerous werewolf.' "Get back, you wolf!!" They said, keeping a proper distance between the two in order to have enough time to react to his 'attacks.' However, the light of amusement and joy never left her gaze, and she seemed like she was trying to keep a straight face, doing her best not to laugh. "Fear me!" |*So I have to defend myself when he attacks, I think..*| Right?
|*Doing better than I am.*| Kunala thought to themselves, seeing how Jake was better at acting. |*Just try and relax a little... It’ll help when actually defending yourself.*| With that, her eyes narrowed with both thought and determination. The grip on the wooden sword was firm, but not too firm. The brunette braced themselves for the ‘attack,’ moving back a little whenever the other took a step in advance.
Its been 13 days im-)
Kunala was quick to act when Jake 'attacked,' using the sword to defend themselves. The 'weapon' struck him, but the brunette was careful not to actually hurt Jake, not at all using full force. "Back off!" She said, though her amber eyes were lit with amusement once again, and she noticed how the other's tail was wagging. At least they were having fun..!!
lak;sjdf theyd prob gonna hurt Jake or smth D: but lmfao xd)
Kunala's eyes went wide, and she looked at him and then at the sword, now laying on the ground. Looks like they messed up... However, she immediately went over to the sword, trying to retrieve her weapon. They just need to get it... If this was real, she'd probably be dead right now, as she isn't fighting a cardboard 'wolf' this time.
hhh i wanna cause more drama in rp soooo))
Someone had been walking into the forest hunting for some food, soon they came across Kunala and jake, seeing the large werewolf they aimed their gun at him as he hid. Jake sat down yawning, staring at Kunala. his tail hitting the ground over n over bc happi boi lmao
i weep xd but ok!)
Assuming Kunala can't see him, as in the gun dude)
Kunala picked up the sword, and she turned to see that he had sat down. Seeing the other yawn, she pretended to look offended though still amused. "You found this boring, since I didn't put up much of a fight, huh," they said, though a chuckle followed those words. "Guess there's still some things I need to work on." At the moment were they unaware that the two aren't the only ones here...
A small sound of surprise left the brunette when he playfully pounced on them, and they giggled as Jake licked their face. "Yah, get off of me!" Kunala said with a laugh, though the moment didn't last long. Suddenly, she heard a yelp from the wolf, and an alarmed expression appeared on her face. They noticed with shock that Jake was shot, seeing a new wound on him, and they followed his gaze to see who the suspect was. Shock was replaced with fury that they had shot Jake, and she yelled, "Hey! Get the heck away! He's done nothing wrong!" Internally were they throwing swears, they just can't hear them. If that wasn't enough to scare them off, Kunala picked up the wooden sword. It wasn't really much of a match compared to the gun, since she will get shot before she can even approach the person. However, the brunette threw it at the person, their immediate response to this threat. Not exactly smart, but she had to do something and try to defend Jake. "Leave us alone!"
They yelled at Kunala to get away from the werewolf, aiming the gun once again. Jake bared his teeth and charged at the man, he had been shot during the process, letting out a few pained yelps. He soon reached the man and pounced onto them snarling and raising his paw as he unsheathed his claws. The man yelled as they felll under his weight, the gun dropping out his hand
Kunala didn't listen to the person when they yelled at her to get away from Jake. Heck, the two are friends- at least, at the moment... The brunette tried to stop them, but Jake went in and charged at the person, and there were the sound of more shots taken. Hearing him yelp in pain was unpleasant, as she yelled, "Stop shooting him!" They felt useless in this situation now, as it's not like they have a superpower or something to help Jake.
But then, Jake had pounced onto him, knocking out the gun. At this point, Jake could possibly kill the man, now that he's unarmed at the moment. However, despite the anger she felt... It didn't feel right to kill the man. As in, should they be merciful with him? Picking up the gun with caution so the person doesn't get it, she said to Jake, "We should let him go and consider this as a warning. If he shows up and hurts you or me again... Then we can resort to killing him." As Kunala spoke, she tried to look more tough to intimidate the man, gaze now hardened with anger.
Once the man was completely gone, Kunala gazed at Jake sympathetically. "I know it must've been hard not to kill him, especially since he did that," they said, placing down the gun and going to his side. "I know he seemed to deserve it, but..." A little sigh came from the brunette. "It just felt right, showing some mercy. That doesn't mean I'm greatly worried about you, though. That asshole..." |*I hope you can understand...*| They pleaded in their mind. "These bullets should be extracted," Kunala said, looking at the wounds from the gunshots. "Otherwise, I don't think you'd be able to properly heal."
Hearing the growl from Jake, they tried not to flinch. However, deep down did she have a feeling she messed up. |*Was I supposed to let him kill the man?*|Kunala thought to herself, though the action contradicted her morals. However, they snapped themselves out of their thoughts upon seeing Jake getting up and walking further into the forest. Assuming he was mad at her for stopping him back then, she was hesitant on following. However, she chose to do so. If he doesn't want to her to come, perhaps he'd do something or growl, and she'd respect that. But for now did she come along, internally apologizing over and over again.
Kunala didn't quite expect the other to grab her, eyes slightly wide at the sudden move. However, they didn't at all resist, just rather surprised. Remaining there in his warm, soft embrace, she murmured, looking up to see him, "I thought you were mad at me." Or did she assume something wrong? Kunala wasn't quite sure, as she moved a little closer to Jake.
The brunette noticed that the other didn't seem to be mad at them, to their relief and joy. For a moment did her mind creep into negative assumptions. "Oh, guess I assumed wrong," Kunala said with a little smile, stroking Jake's fur. But then did they stop upon hearing a whimper from the wolf, as a concerned expression formed on their face. "What's wrong?" she queried, again studying him closely. Was it the bullet wounds? "Must be when you got shot," they then said, her eyes drifting towards the wounds that were closing up. "If that's the case, we need to get rid of those. If not, I don't think you can fully recover." Kunala doesn't quite specialize with medicine and such, but she knows basics.
Kunala was surprised by the sudden change in behavior, shock evident in her honey orbs as she got up. They weren't sure why he was acting like this, though she knew something similar happened before, back when she first followed him into the forest. "Jake..?" She questioned, backing up a little to form a distance between the two. However, the brunette didn't run away. She doesn't get what's happening to him, and she wants to know the cause. A shame that would get them into some trouble. "What's wrong? What is it?"
The brunette tried to search for any expressions in the other’s gaze, but there was no emotion of recognition or friendliness in his red orbs. When Jake had lunged at them, reflexes kicked in as a response to the danger, and Kunala managed to dodge, moving out of harm’s way. She’ll have to find out later. For now, the startled individual made a run for the exit of the cave.
Kunala may be fast, though it would be nothing compared to Jake's speed, especially when in his werewolf form. With that, their fear had increased when it seemed like he was getting closer, just by one quick look over the shoulder. But then, they heard a yelp from behind, causing them to slow. After another glance back did she come to a hesitant stop, keeping a safe distance at least. "Jake..?" She then asked again, choosing to ready herself if he does move towards her. Kunala was feeling a mix of confusion yet fear.
He bared his teeth, pinning his ears to his head and got up, shaking his head and looking back at Kunala snarling, taking a step back, reading himself to chase her again, but yelped again, backing up as he had been shot, the same old man from earlier came back, holding his gun up pointing it at Jake. "Miss you need to run now!!" He said as he continued to aim the gun at Jake in case he decided to come closer again
Kunala was about to take off, when a gunshot pierced the atmosphere with its sound, immediately followed by another yelp. They were able to make out the old man's presence. A presence in which they found a curse in this situation, especially when he shot Jake before. Guess he wasn't smart enough to head the warning. "Why can't you just leave us alone!?" She yelled, not finding him helpful here at all, the opposite actually. They felt bitter with how he came back and shot Jake, that they lost the care if anything happened to the man. "He's a good person! There's just something going on!" Something they're yet to figure out themselves. While there was an urge to fight the man because he hurt Jake again, she had to ready herself for what's next to occur. "Just go, damnit!!" They yelled.
The brunette saw the man's lifeless form, and for some reason did they have to make an effort to compose themselves. She knew that he basically asked for it, coming back here despite what she said. It was just the sight in general, since it's not something people can naturally get used to. But she managed to get a hold of herself when Jake's attention was back on her. They began to take some steps back, starting to increase their pace, to recreate that distance between them. They don't know what's wrong, but they need to hang in here for some time. Lord knows how long, as they braced themselves for when they need to run.
