Just putting this lore up here where I remember it Tres was effected by a Kihjurama, a mischievous spirit from Archae mythology. The being targets archaes with incredibly pronounced alter egos. They become the alter ego of the archae to cause mischief, to try to ruin the reputation of the archae, but some alter egos can be so strongly willed, they become their own being, overtaking the Kihjurama. This alter egos are fully formed people, often their forms changing to fit who they want to be now that they are unhindered by the archae who created them and the Kihjurama. Sometimes things as drastic as gender changes or as simple as their eye colors or voices changing. The myth of the Kihjurama is regarded as just that, a myth. A common saying among archaes even being "The Kihjurama did it" when asked about an embarrassing event, being a joking response. However, Tres's alter ego of Kintsugi was simply too infamous for the young Kihjurama to resist, and it was their undoing.
