*sighs* For once I actually LIKE the picture! Bringing back the glitch text I did ALOT in some of my early anims (especially with Mystery when he was still new >w<) .
This's a continuation of the haunted house r.p (I believe?) with Mistheart. Feel free to join if you wish.
:::::
(copy and pasted from where we left off)
(yeah totally not like she's dying from embarassment on the inside or anything x))
Poppy: *her ear twitched and she shook her fur before stopping and padding back to Mystery and Puzzle* Oh wow.. *she looked at the substance* Seems rather.. strange. *she sniffed it and then instantly regretted it, shuffling back slightly* A-and it smells really bad...
(There are butterflies everywhere... Halp.)
Mystery; Indeed, though it's not harmful to the skin, not ours anyway. *He sighed while gently prodding the substance once again* It also seems to be dripping fast, creating a pool out of nowhere.
Puzzle: Could it be due to Misfortune leaving?
Vague: *nudges Puzzle's shoulder* We don't know if they did it on purpose or not.
Puzzle: Probably did--
Secret: In answer to your question: No. Demons like us, and even Misfortune, do not leave substances like this when we teleport.
Mystery: ...
Comment removed
Secret: Well, there are some types of demons that are known to leave... Trails when moving around. *side eyes Poppy, her eye flickering white for a second* They're the type you wouldn't want to associate yourself with.
Vague: We'd better get a move on then. This 'trail' is spreading fast. *The small dripping substance had started to pool around the demons feet, the flicks of red and orange getting brighter each time another bead of liquid made its way down the wall*
Puzzle: *scampers on ahead, taking note of the creaks each of the floor boards and where strange objects lay*
Vague: *following his brother quickly, waiting for Poppy then almost sprinting ahead*
Mystery and Secret: *still scanning the walls in interest*
(Currently thinking of how to write the next part... Q-Q)
(Okay it's better now and Imma just give up trying to make good quality writing.)
Mystery: *suddenly snapping his head around, his eye flickering rapidly and brightly as a high pitched whistle echoed from down the hall. Muffled. From downstairs. As the sound slowly got high in pitch and louder his blood-red fangs started to show through his smooth black fur yet he didn't make any sound*
Secret: *mimicking his actions as loud, creaking footsteps started to make their way up the stairway, sending echoes down the hall as the whistling continued*
Vague: *whispering to Puzzle* Do you think it would be in our best interests to run?
Puzzle: *swallowing* ... Maybe...?
*The footsteps had abruptly ceased, stopping at the top of the stairs*
Vague: *taking a single step back, narrowly avoiding a creaking board but instead disturbing a single sheet of paper, allowing it to sift a meter of so behind him*
Mystery: *curses under his breath as the footsteps suddenly began once again and rapidly thundered down the hall towards them. The tall demon quickly spun around and practically shoved his two sons (along with Poppy) along, snarling* Go now!
Vague: *yelling out in panic as the substance from earlier began to tremble and almost slither down the floor boards next to them, it's colours twirling like oil as it moved* What the heck!?
Puzzle: *gritting his teeth at the high whistling* What even is that!?
Secret: *shrieks, getting cut off as her body begins to tremble and shake, an oily liquid shooting out of her mouth for several feat. Her cat form slowly began to wear away, her shiny, pulsing skin ripping through the smooth fur*
Mystery: *growling to the trio* Don't look, just keep moving!
Vague: *suddenly darts around a corner and into a gap between a ruined painting and the peeling wall, roughly pulling Puzzle and Poppy in beside him, glancing worriedly at Mystery*
Mystery: You three stay here while I-- *winces at the thundering steps and shrieking from behind them* Get- get Secret. *leans in closer to Puzzle and Vague* Don't. You. Dare. Move. *his eye quickly flickers back to it's normal colour before going back to red once again as he leapt silently back around the corner*
Vague: *lets out a shaky breath*
Puzzle: I don't- don't know...
Vague: *swallows nervously and shifts his paws* She was losing control... As you know this *gestures to him and Puzzle* isn't our true form; it's just one commonly used among demons, we look very- different. And something happened to Secret that was causing her to be unable to stay in that form, she was turning into what we really look like...
Puzzle: *gulps* ...
Vague: *nudges her gently, smiling weakly* It's alright--
Puzzle: *exhales while shaking his head rapidly* No it's not--
Vague: It will be. We'll get out of here, okay? *looks from Puzzle to Poppy* All haunted houses have exits. Sometimes even by accident.
Puzzle: The... whistling's quieted... And the footsteps... *reaching for the corner* Maybe--
Vague: *hissing to Puzzle* No! We wait until dad comes back. Then it'll be safe... *silences himself upon hearing shuffling from around the corner*
Puzzle: It's too loud to be a mouse but... *relaxes his muscles* Maybe it is.
Vague: *fully steps around the corner, watching as the last thin trickle of inky substance made it's way down the floor before ending in a small bead of blackness* Wherever Misfortune is, I bet.
Puzzle: Should we- keep going?
Vague: Agreed. *glancing down each direction of the hallway* Lets keep going the way we were.
Puzzle: *continuing along the original hall, hopping over creaky floorboards and narrowly avoiding fallen furniture, calling out quietly* Misfortune? Misfor- *freezes as he notices a tall figure at the end of the hall, standing dead in front of a dark door surrounded by shadow*
Vague: What the... *steps several feat forward* Hello?
???: *letting out a low hum, stopping and starting abruptly, as if trying to create some sort of melody. The shadow then proceeded to drop to all fours and let out a higher hum, to the tune of some sombre song*
Vague: Are you... Alright?
???: *continues to hum, slowly getting quieter until they aren't humming anymore, instead whispering to themselves in a high voice, gibberish*
Puzzle: *inching back the way they'd come*We should leave them...
Vague: *blinking slowly* ...
Vague and Puzzle: *both walking slowly back though the figure made no attempt to follow them until they were halfway back down the hall when the shadow began letting out a piercing scream, growing in volume until it echoed around the halls, a high-whining scream like that of a child, getting higher and lower in pitch until they finally stopped, dropping to the ground like a used rag doll*
Vague: *swears under his breath* What- that- how- that was...
???: *shakily raising up from the ground, coughing up something before slowly turning it's 'head' to the trio many meters away. Speaking in a raspy, unused voice that seemed familiar* Wh-where are... Mmmm-Mystery- and- Seecret?
Puzzle: Wait... Is that...?
Vague: *rushing towards the figure* Misfortune!
???: Nuh-nn-no! Keepp you distance! Wh-where are th-they?
Misfortune: *gasps once again before collapsing to the ground, writhing around* It's just from-frommm trying-ing to keep this form-mm and talk-lk to you thre-ee.... Go and I'llll meet up with you soon-n.. *groans*
Vague: We'd better go...
Puzzle: *Nods to Vague and Poppy* Lets see if we can get anything for Misfortune, if we somehow find a way out or Mystery and Secret then, either way, we'll come back for them. *turns back to the writing silhouette* Misfortune?
Misfortune: Sounds good-good, go!
Vague: *eyeing the books sitting on cracked shelves, their torn pages floating down in a wind he could not feel* I'd say so, how else would you explain the footsteps from earlier?
Puzzle: Think the same thing that happened to them happened to Mystery and Secret?
Vague: Well, *sighing* they left a different way so I'd say no but we know almost nothing about this place.
Vague: Who knows?
Puzzle: *eyeing the stairs* Best to go up than down either way, I guess.
Vague: *hopping up each oversized stair* True. *glances back at Poppy* Come on, lets see if we find anything.
Puzzle: *waits for her answer as he carefully twists around the railing at the foot of the staircase*
