I remember my mom saying all the time what if I fall asleep with the door unlocked Only to way up the couple times I did to her with a angry face yelling at me with a butter knife in her hand I think teenagers do deserve a door and a small bit of privacy And one time I remember trying to go into my moms room to go and use the bathroom only for her door to be locked I knocked and asked before getting no response and going over to the kitchen and unlocking the door and using the bathroom before going back to bed In the morning I told her about it only for her to say “yeah I didn’t want anyone disturbing me”

If you don’t get it it’s very ironic for her to say she didn’t want any disturbances when in the same fashion that’s what me and my sister want

I can see the concern of what if something happens- but that fear is substitcated when a knife can unlodge the door in seconds I can also get the fear of what if your teenager tries to harm themselves or worse- but removing there right to having a door ( if you locked the door to much at our house you would get the door taken off ) it might give more incentive then if you rather just periodically checked in with your teenager and made sure to give them the support they need
