But mushrooms reproduce sexually by exchanging sperm through the small amount of water. It then makes new genetic information in the spores and eventually get released to spread. When the area is moist enough for it to live, the spore spreads to it's form. It will lay dormant until there is enough water. The only reason Mushrooms are not in the Plantae kingdom is because it is a heterotroph, mainly eating dead material, and it has no Chloroplast to conduct photosynthesis. But it has a cell wall with chitin in it, a protein found in the exoskeleton of insects. Mushrooms are also being made into bricks because of the Mycelia. The mycelia is fireproof.
