Fox-wasps are born in eggs that are buried in the ground just below the surface. It grows to a juvenile size, then crawls out to continue growing into an adult. This period between juvenile and adulthood is when the Fox-wasp learns the social-cues and priorities of the hive from designated workers and the queen or king.
