Well, wouldn't the lives of many people be of more worth than the life of one? There are many more people you can make connections with, and the wound made by the memory of a dead person heals eventually...
I know this an RP thing yadda yadda but apply some basic logic, people
Plus, personally I think that a character that has this sort of fate attached to them can't aplow them to do anything risky or fully express their personality, trading it for angst and a lack of all risky behaviour.
