Evergen, surprisingly, never felt a single twinge of her soulmates pain. Viane wondered what on Earth her soulmate was doing, and she vowed that if she ever found them, she would protect them with her life.

The first time Viane felt any form of pain was a week after she, Hazel, and Evergen met. It was a small, stinging pain on her shoulder. Like a slap. Hit after hit she took until redish bruises the side of her hands dotted her back like a sick branded pattern.
The week after the three of them met up, she noticed that Evergen wore a scarf around her neck even though it was the middle of summer. Evergen shifted to pick up a pencil on the floor, and Viane swore she saw a small, pinkish bruise on her neck.
The worst pain she felt was 3 months before the Disaster. A gnawing pain inside of her like a rabid, feral beast. The rise and fall of stabbing pain in her stomach to dull aches, she doubled over. She covered her mouth to prevent herself from crying out in agony, and in the bits between the p
ain and torture, she wondered what on Earth was happening to her soulmate.
Evergen first felt her soulmates pain in May. A blissfully warm afternoon, with the sun outside shining a warm, soft light onto the thornbushes she was trimming. The first twinge of pain was a sharp, strong grip on her shoulder. She gritted her teeth. After years of drunken nights with her father she knew all too well the pain and the struggle.
Suddenly, she felt like her jaws were being clamped shut and every time she tried to open them to scream they were kept firmly shut. She felt herself crumple to the ground and harsh, bitter kicks to her rib knocked the wind out of her. For a while that was all she could do, moan in pain and feel tears drip out of her tightly squeezed shut eyes.
On that very day, in the lab, both of them had a plan. A plan to destroy that excuse of a human being. That spiteful scientist that has always made Evergens hair stand on end.
And with a crash, a explosion, and the sound of broken glass, Viane's limp body flew into the air before falling to the ground like a rag doll. And despite the fact that Evergen was at least 40 meters away from the explosion, she felt a harsh force knock her back, and felt like every single rib of her's was being shattered. She looked down to see a small triangular slit on her leg, caused by the shattered glass. Blood slowly tricked down.
Then she remembered.
She was nowhere near the glass.
Evergen frantically scambled over, ignoring the bits of metal, shards of glass and patches of flame. She turned Viane's body over, and after checking that she was still breathing, checked her left leg.
There, hidden slightly with bruises from the fall, was a small, triangular slit.

Veronica gazed up at the ceiling, lost in her own thoughts that never seemed to still.
Only the soft creaking of floorboards and the rustle of the window curtains could be heard, and she closed her eyes.
Suddenly sharp pain coursed through her knuckles and she sat bolt upright, wincing.
Like daggers of agony and bruises shooting through her hands, from nowhere.
She numbly rubbed them as it slowly dissipated, wincing.
It was certainly something.
Eggroll entered the room, wiping her freckled forhead with a washrag, throwing herself down into a chair.
Ronnies eyes traveled warily down to her hands, bloody around the knuckles and bruised to the point of drawing crimson.
Her heart sank.

There’s a lot of thing’s Breeze can focus on during the heat of the moment, Evergen always praised them for it. “You’ve got a keen eye, thats great during a fight”
Right now, they can register plenty of things. The fact that there’s rubble everywhere, the fact that a very disorientated Paradox is staggering towards them, yelling something The fact that there’s a ringing in their ears as the ground shakes below them. The fact that Hazel and Lavender still aren’t back from the shops.
Oh, and also the fact that the building above them is collapsing before them, no, on top of them. That too.
SOULMATE AU: Viane meets a peculiar girl on top of the school roof. A part of her thinks she should run to her next class. Another part of her feels that she should talk to her. Another part of her wonders why her Soulmate watch is beeping so loudly
Isn’t that how every cliche movie-story started? Being sent on a mission to find a child-run mafia gang, only to be kept there as a semi-prisoner, growing close to your “captors” eventually finding out that everybody you cared about, including the members of the gang would be killed unless you did something about it?
Not really, but alas, here I am.
