i’m so sorry about that, su.c.de is never a good option. i hope he stays safe, i once again am sorry you both are going through this, i may not be the best at advice but i try my best. please tell him things will get better, it just takes time
is he an online friend or an irl? if he’s an online friend theres not much you can do other than try to talk him out of it. is it possible you could bring up times you two talked together and had fun?? maybe that’ll help?
try to remind him of better times, even if its just a funny conversation

Do you know why he is going to this option?
Maybe keep telling him that, it might not do anything but it can still be good for him to know that you care?
And maybe have him, or you, or the both of you list some good things, like what he can get to or do when he can move out or things he can do now or stuff he appreciates. It might be good for him to have a reason to keep going, things that he can or will get to
As a stranger I won’t act like I know everything about this situation but like @Temshop said, let him know people care. Even better if you know exactly who he cares a lot for or if he has a pet too. Bring them up.
Also keep reminding him that he’s doing a good job at least making it this far and he won’t have much time left before he can get out of there. (Assuming he’s somewhere around 15 or idk) keep encouraging him even more than you may already do.
Don’t bluntly say it, put your feelings in there and use your words to let him know you care.
